I use a Zippo on my Strat. Tend to not like alternate tunings, as I don't like having to re-tune while on stage. I need more guitars. Anyone want to buy me some?

I've tried off & on over the years to teach myself slide.

I have a chromed steel slide I like--it's nice & bright.
I recently tried a brass one that just sang--I think I'll have to get one for myself.

I don't use glass--I'd break it, and probably slice my finger open.

i used a dunlop chrome to begin with - lost it - now got dunlop glass - might get chrome again for fear of the fact i love the sound breaking glass - used slide on one song one and it kicked $@! - full distortion!

Hey, thats cool! I use a bic lighter usually. Kind of noisy I guess from the plastic. But I like it. And theres always a bic lighter in my front pocket for some reason.

I've tried all kinds, but mostly use a Dunlop Glass slide these days. It seems to give a warmer, thicker tone and brings out the middle harmonics better.

I agree, my opinion is the same

Hours before I got new carpet, my Porcelain Slide met the Concrete. :(

Oh Snap!
I might replace it with a White one so it looks like I'm wearing a cast on my pinky

Biggest Dunlop stainless I could order @ GC. Wear on pinky (got large hands!). Got tired of breaking the Pyrex glass ones from general handling in my guitar case. Drop a tempered one just right and it'll break! Like pinky 'cause it keeps my other three fingers free.

Next time I'll wait, but I couldn't help myself. I had to try some of that Sonny Landreth stuff from Crossroads. (emphisis on TRY).

Metal for electric and glass for my acoustic.

Zod's slide rules, especially with a few Tecate's and some of my lady friends. Good Times! :o

I use a heavy wall glass slide (Dunlop I belive) on the ring finger with either regular or open G tuning. Sometimes in open E. I have also used:

1. Chapstic tube
2. platic pen
3. Lighter
4. Drumstick
5. metal pen (not as well as envisioned. it sounded harsh)

I was bored, okay?

Anywho, the glass slide sounds the best. I've ranked the others in order of how I liked them

Oh, and to ZOD: What kind of tone does your wonderous slide produce?
