Take care of that cold, with a little toddy (whiskey, from Kentucky hopefully, and whatever you like), ask your Dad, sometimes helps in summer I've found. Texas, looking forward to you playing. :D

Well, I didn't make the cut. The competition was really good, but I still had fun and everything. :) I'm actually kind of relieved. I have a TON of things to do to get ready for college, another recording session with my band in early July which I need to focus on and I'm just generally very busy. Now I have one less thing to worry about, which is for the best.

Texas, congratulations, I'm sure that you played well enough to go on but judges aren't perfect. I would have liked to be there. Was russianracehorse in the audience?

No, it would be at least a three hour drive for him. I might see him again this summer if he decides to come back out to Austin for the guitar workshop. :)

Yes! Unfortunately my computer started acting up and it's in the shop right now. I'm on the old computer now and it's not fast enough for videos, but it does an okay job for web browsing. I'm not sure when the other computer will be fixed, but as soon as I possibly can I'll post that video. :)

Didn't make the cut either... only one guy was actually good IMO, and he wasn't really a true Blues guy, but he did put on a good show, sweet licks and great timing, I enjoyed his playing, he's heading to the next round. Most of the others didn't really belong, I have no idea why a shredder would be competing at a Blues event, he had skills but he definitely didn't play the Blues!

It was fun to try the KOTB for the first time, if I do this again I'll make sure I'm more prepared and take a Strat with me

The guy that won at our local store last night was playing a Gibson ES-335. When they were warming up prior to the start I thought for sure a guy with an old Strat was going to win because he sounded real good. But when the music started he played stiff and the Gibson guy played loose and fluid and nailed it. I didn't realize till last night that last years winner, Randy Scott, was from our local store. Kind of cool.

thats where they should draw the line. if your not playing blues ya gotta go.
i watched a guy play some of the sweetest jazz/blues, but i dont think he should have been sent to the next round. it is what it is, King of the Blues.
blues, not shred, not jazz, not rock. this is where it all freakin starts right here. let folks pass on things like this and it sooner or later all goes to shiot.
sorry to hear you good folks didnt make the cut. you had a whole forum pulling for you.
you didnt get sent to the next round then neither did we. all 4 one and one 4 all folks.
