rosewood does not darken with playing, if anything playing might have the oposet efect. your skin gives off a small amount of salt and other things that may have a bleaching efect. notice places that are in contact with your skin are dryer looking than the rest of the wood. a good quality wood oil product will clean it and bring it back to normal. Be carefull to not use any product that might loosen the bond between the two layers of wood consult a tech. :) -----------Danny,

nevin. the answer is no. get you a good quality wood conditioner like Kyser Klassics
to darken and condition your rosewood.

My MIM Strat tells a different story. The Rosewood board is darker in the most used areas. The rosewood is naturally pretty light and you can easily see a change in hue and it's obviously from playing.

what we are saying isnt exactly cast in stone though voodoo.
you might have oilier skin than some folks too though.
several things could be going on there. generally, rosewood
dries out. say, when was the last time you cleaned your
rosewood? cleaned not conditioned? if you might have
gunk building up on the board that too will do what your
saying yours does.

I clean the board whenever I change strings and I'm positive I haven't conditioned the board in the past 5 years.

I don't know if it will happen to all rosewood boards or what factors play a role, it's just very noticable on mine because the rosewood was so light to begin with.
