after reading about a few pedals in the lounge my interest peeked and i started looking for info and watching video online of various pedals that i stumbled across. I had no idea the massive MASSIVE world of pedals from the big names to the one offs that demand insane money. WOW... although i view most as interesting the list of pedals i am hoping to buy seems to keep growing. does anyone here make their own effect pedals? really cool stuff! i am a complete noob to the pedal world so it is quite fascinating to me. how many pedals does everyone own? how many more do you want to buy?

I have too many pedals. I actually am putting together a second pedal board to keep at my studio (in the drummer's house), for his convenience (he also plays guitar and sometimes cuts a guitar track when I'm not there) and mine.

What I have on my board:

• Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner
• Ibanez TS-9 (re-issue) Tube Screamer (overdrive)
• Boss RT-20 Rotary Ensemble (rotary speaker simulator)
• Dunlop MWA Crybaby Wah (modified GCB95)
• MXR M-101 Phase 90 (phase shifter) (late 70s block logo, no LED)
• Dunlop JH-2S Jimi Hendrix System Classic Fuzz (now discontinued)
• MXR M-66 Classic Overdrive (limited run Guitar Center exclusive)(modified)
• MXR M-133 Micro Amp (gain/volume boost)
• ISP Decimator G-String (noise reducer)
• MXR M-169 Carbon Copy Analog Delay
• Morley ABY (A/B box for amplifier channel switching)

I just bought a MXR 10-band EQ on Ebay, so that will be added somehow...

Extras
• MXR M-86 Classic Distortion (limited run Guitar Center exclusive)
• Danelectro DO-1 Daddy-O (overdrive)
• Rocktron HUSH Pedal (noise reducer)

that is the other thing i found crazy, so many are limited run or discontinued and they get SO MUCH money on ebay. I am sure that doesn't apply to the Danelectro pedals that are mass produced but some of these other ones command quite a bit of money.

I have ONE pedal, if you want to think of it that way...

I have a multi-effects processor - an old, ancient, but still going strong, Digitech RP7.
Reading across the LED window, the effects are as follows:
Compressor (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)
Preamp (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)
EQ (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)
Noise Gate (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)
Wah (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)
Mod/Pitch (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)
Dual Delay (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)
Reverb (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)
Speaker Cab (On/Bypass/whatever parameter values you want to program it to)

So, technically, it's like having 8 or 9 different pedals and/or various combinations thereof. But while multi-effect processors are cool and do serve a purpose, you have to really, really, REALLY, spend a lot of time fiddling with them, tweaking them, etc... to get them to sound good and work with your amp.

guitar pedals, a topic that demands a forum of its own.
my pedal board looks like the cockpit of the space shuttle. i love my pedals, but honestly, i only use probably 20% of them and rarely more than my OD, delay, and crybaby at once.
i have a bunch from the early 80' and late 70's in my collection. i dont ever sell my gear so everything just keeps on stacking up. i went to a rack unit for a while back in the very early 90's. i like my pedals better as i can fine tune my tone better with my pedals over the rack system. i dont buy junk and i think you get what you pay for in pedals too.
there is a lot of garbage floating around out there so beware of that.
i wont voice my opinion on which companies are junk on here as everytime i do someones feelings end up getting hurt. though you can PM me and i'll blast away.
pedals are fun and should be used sparingly. be careful how you select your pedals as you might be able to cover two different tone type with 1 pedal. budget yourself for the better quality pedals. remember, there are a ton of pedal tone types out there that sound cool but think real hard about how often your gonna use that pedal for real.
the flanger comes to mind. sure they sound cool and a ton of fun, but how often does the normal player really use his/hers? i have 2 of them lol.
pedals open up a whole new world when it comes to buying/using them. its a jungle out there and everybody swears theirs is the best. be careful.

Make my own, buy others that sound particularly good.

Pedals these days are a utter, utter rip off. A lisence to print money. 99% of production pedals sound crap and cost a fortune. All because they were discontinued years ago. No doubt because people then, came to the same conclusion as I and refused to buy em.

Yup, it's a jungle out there!

I just started buying individual pedals after having a Digitech RP250 for the past couple of years. It gets crazy trying to decide one over the other.

Don't discount the Danelectro pedals because of their price! The original Cool Cat Overdrive that shook people up a couple of years ago because it sounded so like the Fulltone OCD for a quarter of the price (~$20) is now in the $80-100 range used. The Gen 2 version is very good as well though they doubled the price (see Gearmandude Utube vids on this pedal).
I think Danelectro makes very good pedals for the price.

I've built two byoc kits, and modded a Boss BD-2 with a Monti Allums mod kit.
It takes all my will power to not hit buy on their new vintage compressor and delay.

If you really wanna see pedal porn have a look at www.gilmourish.com, readers send in photos of their own boards.

i use a multi effects processor too a boss me-70 but i want to add some pedals to it using only the delay and modulation effects of the processor and the tuner and volume pedal i'm thinking of the following: roctron black cat moan wah, digitech whammy, mxr super comp, boss ds-1, digitech bad monkey, and a line 6 verbzilla (not into line 6 but it has a good selection of reverbs)

Sorry I thought they sounded identical too. One things for sure, they both cost the same amount to make.

Head over to TGP some time and check out the effects forum. I haven't even heard of 99% of the pedals they talk about and claim to be the holy grail.
