I'm a U2 fan, always have been. Which isn't saying much as I'm only 18 but still. I seen them live two years ago and it is one of the best concerts I have ever been to, really good stuff.

1% of the population, in this country at least, controls 99% of the wealth. And I doubt that many of those are entertainers of any kind. Justin Bieber's 53mil is a respectable number, but as that Forbes list shows, it's a tiny number compared to the real 'wealthy' people in the world. Bill gates net worth is almost exactly 1000 times that of little Bieber
50+ billion  Then your ballin' 8)

I think U2 is a good band with good music and one of the top bands in the World. I have to say I don't care what thier politics are or what they believe in or what whales they want to save. I say shut up and play music. I like it better that way. There I said it.

IN FACT I don't care about politics or any of that junk when I'm listening or playing music. I don't care if they don't eat meat.

So to stick with the thread- the amount of money some of these guys make is incredible. There sure is a big gap in the middle there!

nothing wrong with standing up for what you believe in. im all for it. i dont mind their opinions and views. they have the right to do whatever they want i guess.
what bothers me is when inbetween songs they start to preach. i/we came to see a show, not go over whats wrong in the world. if they want to do that, do it after the show or out where the shirts and beers are being sold. i guess its a was to reach the numbers by doing it during the shows.

You basically said what I said way cool. 8) and No they don't have the right to do whatever they want to. Nobody has a right to do whatever they want to. That's a very broad statement. I don't have a right to go mess with my neighbors wife do I ?

Using thier place in the music world as a podium to express their viewpoints is just something they are taking advantage of. Okay so they get the message out. They can do that if they want. It just turns me away from the music. I don't want to get preached to by U2, Barbara Stiesand, Oprah, or anyone in the entertainment field. That's all I was saying. That's why I say shut up and play music...... Don't kill the whales ..Dig it!! ( from a song by Yes) :D

I never really cared much for Bon Jovi-- never spent a penny on his stuff. The thing is that we have a pretty good singer and when we play one of the Bon Jovi songs- you ought to see the women rush the dance floor. As Steven Tyler would say "It's beutifull". I kind of like it too. HA!

Where the real money is. Straight from the Forbes Rich list top 10. I know these are some extreme examples but the number one guy has almost 1000 times more money than Tiger Woods.

To put that money in perspective, at a rate of 1% interest a year (and lets face it he gets more than that) he would make $1,408 A SECOND!! If he seen a grand lying in the street, it literally wouldn't be worth his time to pick it up.

1. Carlos Slim (Mexico) - $74 billion, telecommunications
2. Bill Gates (USA) - $56 billion, Microsoft (Software)
3. Warren Buffett (USA) - $50 billion, Berkshire Hathaway (Conglomorate)
4. Bernard Arnault (France) - $41 billion, LVMH (Luxury Goods)
5. Larry Ellison (USA) - $39.5 billion, Oracle Corp (Computer Technology)
6. Lakshmi Mittal (India) - $31.1 billion, steel
7. Amancio Ortega (Spain) - $31 billion, retail
8. Eike Batista (Brazil) - $30 billion, mining, oil
9. Mukesh Ambani (India) - $27 billion, petrochemicals, oil and gas
10. Christy Walton & family (USA) - $26.5 billion, Wal-Mart

Well, this compares net worth vs 2010 sales figures (original post), but yeah,
it's still a BIG difference.
