So... how are you supposed to bend the strings playing on this neck? It seems to me that it would totally throw off the bends. It looks to be good for a seriously technical jazz musician that cannot slightly bend stings to the desired pitch which would indicate a "bad" jazz musician imo. If you like bending notes then I definitely wouldn't suggest getting one of these necks.

Maybe you should try them before making statements like that.

According to their website, "Curved Frets play just like standard frets. You do not need to modify your playing technique. Bending is not affected."

I haven't tried them, so can't verify the claim... but I don't fear the unusual, I would try them first and judge after.

It's interesting to read that the fret shapes are not computer modelled based on theory, as you might imagine, but are hand-tuned by trial-and-error in real-world guitar playing trials

(I have no connection with the company!)

Steve Vai has been known to bend a string from time to time. He's seriously enthusiastic about these frets and claims he's going to be putting them on all his guitars - from 7:30 in this vid:

On the other hand, I haven't found a video of him actually playing that guitar, so we still don't know for sure!

BTW: Vai isn't a player I'm much interested in. But he comes over as quite fun in that little film. Good grief, I'm glad I don't have to set up that rig, though!

Hi Paul: sage advice which I'd like to pursue. You live on approximately the same bit of the planet as me - do you know where we can try out a TrueTemperament neck, please?

Cheers - C
