I am sorry to hear that, wcr. This is obviously all pretty rough for the hockey fans in Atlanta.

Blame the yotes, they were gonna move but then decided to stay another year.

Blame the NHL for owning the 'yotes, hence all the interest in trying to have them succeed. What a $25m flop.

yep the thrashers rock. screw the falcons and the hawks. the Suuuuuuck.
braves/thrashers. first game a saw of the trashers i believe the were playing toronto, i could be wrong. at first drop of the puck to start the game everybody went down the ice except 1 guy from each team. the names escape me. they drop gloves right there and started duking it out like there was some long time grudge that had been unsettled for yrs and this was the first time they saw eachother since. i knew something great had come to Hot'lanta GA.

I've been on a big Hip kick lately. Rocked this in my car many times the past couple of weeks!

As for Queen Elizabeth, she may have gone down when they demolished the Winnipeg Arena
I wouldn't mind having her back though if it meant having an NHL franchise.

Actually True North, the company that bought the Thrashers, has been talking to the current custodian of the picture about using the picture, after the move to the 'Peg.It was taken down before the old building went down, and properly cared for all these years. I hope they do it was iconic. largest painting of the Queen if I recall correctly.

In an interview on TSN Gary Bettman confirmed that the league holds the copyright and licensing on the Jets name, and that the league would hand them over if True North decides to go with that name, but it sounded like he thinks they'll choose a new name for the team. Likely, in my opinion, to sell more jerseys since there's so much Jets gear already.

Congrats to the 'Peg, and condolences to Atlanta's small fanbase. Atlanta has now lost 2 teams to Canadian cities. Just not enough hockey fans to support a team.

That is very true, Twelvebar. More merch would likely be sold under a new team name. I believe that most people will be showing up to games in a Jets jersey anyway, whatever the team name is.
