Kidding about which part?

I'm serious about the grunge part.

Dear Fender, please open a Miami, FL office that includes part of the legal department and hire me as an assistant general counsel (UF law review, 1999 grad). Please also include a customer relations/publicity department in the Miami office that works to promote *rock* music in Miami. Not Latin-tinged rock--nothing against, but we have plenty of it here already. We need more music diversity here that includes a grunge/rock/alternative scene. Together, we can make Miami a second coming of Seattle/Aberdeen 1988-1993, thereby improving music in the world (or at least my world here in Miami). It's time for the return of early 90s music. Thank you for considering my thoughts.

I know all of that. I love Seattle. I did not say anything about anything being the same. It's like you've posted a canned reply to a comment that many (but not me) have made.

I even mentioned Aberdeen too. But talking about the Seattle scene of the early 90s is a valid way to communicate information in May 2011. It's like an adjective.

Also, of course Pearl Jam did not play grunge; they were an irrelevant, bubble gum pop band aimed at 14 year old girls who love the singer's terrible singing.

Nirvana/Smashing Pumpkins--now there is some music.
