Hey fellow guitarists, I've got a bit of a problem. I'm trying to narrow my guitar choices down to one. I need a new one since my Starcaster isn't enough anymore. I'm looking to add one and start a fleet :) I've been busy testing some, and the three I've liked the most (not in order): a Schecter Omen, Dean Dave Mustaine Sig Flying V, and...a black Fender Strat :o A new guitar is first on my list for when I've got the money saved up. Which should I pick? Or if you have any other idears, tell me and I'll do my best to check it out. Thanks guys 8)

flying V's are nice, but not a good choice for setting for study/playing.
so those are out. ok so what kind of fender strat are we talking about?
whats your budget too by the way?
Schecter Omen has a good review, but in my experience schecter
is a hit or miss type company.
you have a better shot at getting a good one if you buy one of
their higher end guitars, though not all of their higher end stuff is good either.

Right now my budget (when all saved up) is about 500-600 dollars. The Strat that I played was a standard one I believe. I really enjoyed playing it, since I felt the most comfortable playing it than many others I've tried. I think it had all standard stuff on it (I don't know all the technical stuff) But I hope this helps you a bit.

then you have your answer.
you can get a quality used MIM start for about $400
and still have money left over to put down on a good amp
or whatever you like.
definatly the fender over the other two. no questions about that.

i agree with waycool on the MIM. a little leftover cash for an amp.
i haven't heard alot of negative stuff on schecter either. i've only played one and it was solid.
the mustaine V. i played one and it was mediocre. the price was insane. i bought a les paul instead.
it's your cash. shop around some more.

Thanks for the help! A surprise actually came up today and I might be getting a guitar from a cousin of mine who's in a band...he's got over 60 guitars and amps haha :) My mom just talked with him about some of the guitars I told you guys about, and he actually said he could give me one that he's got that he doesn't use. Yea, I said GIVE! :D All he really said was that it's an Ibanez, but I've gotta see it first before anything else. But I still want a Strat though...maybe that'll be my third guitar :o

Given the price range I say Schecter is pretty solid and will be a good versatile guitar for someone still learning and finding their sound. You can't go wrong with a Strat either. But I love my Schecter and it is built better than other more expensive guitars I own/have owned.

When anything is free the price is right.Ibanez makes great gear too.You should keep a Strat on your things to buy list though because everyone who plays should have at least one Strat, especially since it's about the most versatile guitar on the market.

You can't go wrong with a Telecaster, try one you'll like it.

AMEN!

Tele's are great. Squier CV50s and CVCs are like $375 new. They are excellent guitars for the money.

I'm definitely keeping it on the buy list. It's too good of a guitar to NOT own. Telecasters too. This Ibanez he's giving me just literally was something I wasn't suspecting. He takes really good care of all his guitars (65 lol) that he has. He's even restringing it and fixing it up a little bit for me...what a nice guy.
He told me I'm not the only person he's given guitars to either. He said between him and the rest of his band, they've given away 36 guitars/basses that were theirs before. It's really just unreal how nice his band is.
