Well, this is a developing story, but I just found an article about a shooting or some sort of tragic event at Seton Hall University...... i'll post an article as more info is known, but from another site i've seen that the campus is in lockdown and it seems something bad has happened

the article was from only 5 minutes ago and said it was developing but someone who goes there said there was rumor of a shooting, so keep an eye on the news and hope nothing bad happened

i suppose just keep them in your prayers and hope nothing bad happened

This seems to be becoming a common way to let the world know you want some help. Not a great choice. Of course since both parents have to work these days and the public school system is basically raising our children, I guess we shouldn't be suprised at kids with problems that nobody knew about.

i've heard a bit more in that there is apparently one person in serious condition, it may or may not have been self inflicted, but these things are saddening

my mom's school today received a bomb threat, which they have had a few of this year, and they have to take them seriously even though its most likely immature kids who find it fun

with what cryingstrat said: yeah, there are definitely quite a few disturbed people out there that you never really know when something along these liens will happen

well, i just got an update and its not as bad as i thought it may be, but still, these things are depressing

i'll delete this thread in the morning, but you can continue the discussion if there is anything else that needs to be said

At approximately 8:23 this evening, a non-student, young male shot himself and then came to Xavier Hall seemingly in search of a friend who is a SHU student. As a result of the self-inflicted gun shot injury, the male has been transported to the hospital for treatment. Additionally, since the weapon has not yet been found, the campus is in a lockdown status until further notice. No student or any other person was injured. The South Orange Police and members of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are on the campus investigating the incident.   An update will be posted as soon as information is available, but no later than 10:30 pm.

Even with both parents working, you have to make time for your child. Both my parents worked but they were always a bigg part of my life. It is a sad story, and one that I wish would just go away. I'm not criticizing anyone (parents or the public school system), but you shouldn't be afraid to send you kid to school :(

First of all, metal detectors should be at every entrance in every school nationwide. Sorry to have to suggest that, but this is what our society has become. I live in Brooklyn N.Y. and my daughter is an English teacher in a local high school and even she has to pass through security. A good part of todays students have no respect for their parents, themselves, their teachers or the elderly. If you ever heard some of the stories she comes home with you`d pass out. Since when is it ok for students to tell a teacher to shut the F up and then call them a B**ch. In my day, if you said that to a teacher not only would he kick your butt, but when the old man found out you would get another beating. I was drafted into the Army in `68 during the Vietnam War. I`m not saying anything about the war, but the military sure taught you disipline, and thats whats lacking in todays society.
