Just mowed the lawn......I sure do like how a lawn looks after I mow - why is that?

because a man should take pride on working on something that is his. pride in a job well done and pride in the work it took to get there.

+1000

I also like the way the yard smells after a mow.

I bought a brand new lawnmower last spring. I've never used it. I have a teenage son.

I have just about an acre of lawn to mow,,first when we moved here it would take about 8 hours to finish the whole thing. Then we bought a self-propelled jobbie that cut it down to 5,now I have a lawn tractor and besides getting a more uniform cut I can get the whole works done in about 1 1/2 hours.
There's something about lawnmowing that's a man thing just like bar-b-q-ing,the satisfaction of getting your property looking good and the lovely smell that permeates the air, it's just plain refreshing.

I like the way it looks because I know I won't have to do it again for awhile. :)

Quite right. Why keep a dog and do your own barking?

Cheers - C

I have almost 2 acres to cut, and now after cutting it last week, all its done is rain where I live(already +2.5 inches of rain for the month of May average) If it don't dry up soon I may have to get the local farmer over here to bail it. And that ain't no joke, I've already got parts of the lawn 10+ inches high.

This is the situation I'm in. Bought a brand new property last year and tried to seed it. The front took better than the back, but its not complete. Definately needs another round of seed and fertilizer. The back yard is a write off. We don't have a fence yet because the area i live in is still under development. The houses next door and behind haven't been built yet, so I can't split the cost. Because there is no fence, the rabbits have been feasting on what little grass I have in the backyard! :x

The worst thing about mowing the lawn is that for the next day or two after I almost smother from being stuffed up.I was tested for allergies but nothing that they had on the regular tests showed up.The Dr. said that I have an obvious allergy to something in the plant world but it's not among the plants that they use in their allergy tests and even allergy meds like Reactine don't work on it so I have to use Sudafed Decongestant for a couple of days after I mow the lawn.
