Doing some work on other's guitars got me thinking about this. Why would
someone who's been playin' for years bring me a guitar for a 'clean up' and
string change?

I've worked on guitars with parts so rusty that bridge parts were nearly
impossible to get off, along with green frets, etc (you get the picture!).

Anyway, I think mine would say "let go of my neck".

mine might either say "oh yeah!!! give me more!!!!!" or "ohhhh when will this torture end??!!!!!"

I play so many different guitars for different reasons and different nights. They'd probably be saying "Pick me!! Pick Me!! I Got this one!! I Swear!!! Come on man, that guitar over there got to play the last show!! I gotta get outta the house!!!"

If my guitar could talk, she would probably say it in a song, of course she would expect me to sing along. She would probably lead me down an old dirt road, in some unfamilair place, and sing softly into my ear, about some forgotten year, when she was new and I was young, and we still had lots of time, to wander down the trails in the music of my mind. She would lead me in a song of how it might have been, if we had hit it big, in stead of going from town to town, to get one just one more gig. Now her strings have begun to rattle, and i'm getting old to, I sit by the fire, in my old chair and hold her in my arms.

"I think you're seeing somebody else."

"...why am I here? what the??? Everything is fine! STOP. No, wait, I'm feeling a bit parched. Remove my strings, and give me a gorgomyte treatment. Rub some nut sauce deep into my saddle holes and nut slots. Put some Fender Super Bullets 9's on, crew cut. Give me a nice rub down when you're done. Do not touch anything else or he's gonna start swearing at me again. We appreciated the lower action last trip, but the tone sucks when the strings are that low. Oh, have me ready by six. We got a practice session at 9. And yes, I know. He plays every damned string and fret and nook and cranny on me yet I still look brand new. I don't play well unless I'm thoroughly pampered everyday! I was shocked he brought me here until he told me he ran out of strings and wanted to go see a guy about a Mustang V cab around the corner from you!"

I have no idea what the guitar would say,but my ex used to say,"I wish you held me like you hold that guitar."
I would tell her the guitar treated me better than she did.
Women are fickle creatures...they see musicians playing guitars and it thrills them that we have that talent,and they want us to play for them,...then after awhile the new wears off and they get jealous of the guitar.....self centered drama queens,most of them are.
