i honestly cant stand this dipshiot or his playing. one of if not thee most over rated guitar player ever. everybody thinks just because he was at woodstock hes the shiot, or because hes labeled a blues player hes the cats azz. its funny how when he knows cameras around he strikes 1 or 6 poses he knows. ya think john mayer over does it with the guitar faces, this guy is the king. i will give him credit on a couple tunes hes done over the yrs, maybe 3 or 4 tops. its the latino music movement in my opinion thats kept him around so long.
he hits a few good licks every so often but thats about the extent of his playing that i can stand.

Carols owes his career to Woodstock and even more so to Peter Green. Without Black magic Woman he is just another guy with too many effects, playing the same riffs over and over

Ehhhhh, Carlos Santana is okay. He does have a wicked, sustain-for-days, guitar tone though. His bizarre, spiritual, Maharishi Yashesh-bullsh** stuff from the 70's is what ruined his career.

Speaking of "guitar faces"... Carlos Santana doesn't always make guitar faces, compared to this guy (Gary Moore). OMG... This guy's guitar faces in this video are hysterical! Talk about waaaaaaaaay over doing it!!!!

i agree with the gary moore deal, but gary's came at a great time of intensity. santana's come even at the open A chord. lol the 1 leg hiked up in the air pose is the one he does most outside of the head back/mouth open pose. then in a few pic's ive seen him combine the two. pure comedy.

thanks to having some serious pedals hooked up. take away all the effects and lets hear his tone and his playing. he is a one trick pony just like the edge. the average listener just cant think of Santana without his pedal influenced sustain.

No one is saying he can't play, sure he can. But guitar God? nah. Product of Woodstock, Peter Moore's blueprint and putting his Latin blend on the music to make rock that was a little different. Vastly overrated.

sure he can play a bit, but i wouldnt cross the street to go to a free show of his.
hes just been blown up over time for no real reason at all other than his woodstck
performance, and drug abuse. just about any of his interviews he goes back to his drug days. not all of them but pretty much most interviews.

Take away the effects and 99% of everybody sucks!
I've spent many years plugging straight into my amps and getting better tone all the time...sure it takes some time and money getting the right setup, but that's usually a thing of the past, nowadays.
Everybody for the most part wants the pedals to do all the work.
Very few have what it takes, imho.
I guess it's because I'm old and a purist in some ways, but give me somebody who can do it without all the gimmicks.

some styles of music almost require a full pedal board.

I have some pedals, and every once in awhile I go buy some other one,but usually after playing awhile I just plug straight in.
Lucky for me,in the styles I play I can get by without much...but then again my playing might suck to others.

as long as you strike different poses and dont tilt your head back with your mouth open for every pic you will be ok.

I love Carlos Santana's guitar, band and songs. He is a great musician!
BUT, shut up and play. Keep the political thoughts to yourself, Carlos.
What good is it gonna do anyway? :?
