The Melvins are playing near me on June 3 and 4.... and the shows are 18+ :x

Adding insult to injury, they are playing my favorite albums in their entirety (Lysol/Melvins, Eggnog, and Houdini 1st night, Bullhead and Stoner Witch the next).

And it's not even the venue, there are other shows there that are all ages. I really don't see any reason other than "TEH METULZZ IZ DA SATAN!!!!1!!1!!!one!!!" BS why The Melvins would be an 18+ show when Green Day (feature Billy Joe azz and language that could make a deaf man cringe) is always all ages.

This irks me. Greatly.

Love 18+ shows. Cut down on a lot of the stupid bullshit. I remember playing 18 and 21+ shows back before I was 18 or 21 though and having to wait outside before I played once upon a time

And Green Day play to a poppy bullshit suburban teenage demographic, Melvis prolly don't have a whole lot of young fans.

There are also insurance issues for the venue to consider.

Come to think of it, almost every concert trouble maker I've ever seen has been some mid to late-20s asshat who's drunk/stoned off his arse.... Only time I've really seen younger teens causing trouble was at a Fall Out Boy/All Time Low/Metro Station/Hey Monday concert I got forced to go to and of course Warped Tour

Of course it's poppy as hell, but it's also vulgar as hell (so all cute little scene kids feel "edgy"), as opposed to The Melvins' lyrics which, 90% of the time (on the music they'll be playing) are unintelligible grunts and noises/made up words of some kind

very true. it'll probably just be to much of a mess for a under 18 person to deal with

Well, in a not-so-shocking twist, my dad may know some people at the venue through some bands he's worked with....

THERE IS HOPE!

In between songs Billie Joe can get pretty rough....

That being said, a band like, say, Big Black, makes Green Day look like the f***in Wiggles

Show those friends any one of the many Big Black songs about rape, murder, arson, misogyny, pedophilia, or any combination of the 5

Or of course you could go with the oh-so-classy Rapeman
