We lost another great rock pioneer.Keith Relf the ex lead vocalist/harp player was electrocuted in a freak accident at age 32 in his home while tuning his guitar.I don't know the details of what happened but it was unusual to say the least.RIP Keith.

Yes, the voice behind the Yardbirds, or should I say, in front of. It was always a puzzle to me that he never seemed to quite get the same acclaim as his contempories.
In my view, a great vocalist and as you rightly say 'pioneer'
Keith Relf R.I.P.

It would be interesting to here how that could hapon. Guitars are powered up on DC power. you can get a burn but not a shock. Is that right? :(

If I remember right he was wiring a light fixture in his basement when he was electrocuted...sad indeed.

He was as much responsible for the sound of the Yardbirds as the three guitarists in the band...and Keith was quoted as saying the band stopped being fun and lost the excitement once Clapton left, at least as far as Relf was concerned.

RIP Keith you were a great Yardbird!

On the Sirius Deep Tracks station today they played a Yardbirds tribute to Keith and it was from this report that I'd heard it today but I've also heard it from other sources over the years but it does have an urban legend feel to it.In the meantime, in the olden days before 3 prong grounded plugs and wallplates I gave myself some pretty powerful jolts from touching my lips to a mic that wasn't grounded the same as my guitar.I can imagine how bad that would be for someone with braces on their teeth.
