:D Big, BIG thumbs up for Live in Chicago. Funny that this thread showed up; I was listening to this very disc just this week. Luther was so, so good.

If you can afford it, get Luther Allison's Live in Paradise (1997) DVD
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005MAUC/ref=s9_simh_gw_p74_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1QE6FVD8PQZGV5F7S9D9&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846.

It was filmed only 4 months before he passed, but you can't tell he's ill at all!

Also pick up 'Blue Streak' http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Streak-Luther-Allison/dp/B000000A10/ref=ntt_mus_ep_dpi_1, which features the hit 'Cherry Red Wine'.

Here's a little bit of blues music trivia, the 'break' during Luther's solo in 'Cherry Red Wine' wasn't meant to be there. Luther told me that he wasn't happy with something, and was waving at the band to stop...but his guitar just kept on playing. He never 'added' that break in live shows.

Oh heck yeah! Delmark Records has just released a remastered version of Magic Sam's 'West Side Soul' http://www.amazon.com/West-Side-Soul-Special-Magic/dp/B004B3PBEC/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1305490469&sr=1-1. This is one of the best blues albums ever IMO.

I'm a big Magic Sam and have been blessed to have met, and played with musicians that knew Magic Sam. It was Magic Sam that gave Magic Slim his name. I'm good friends with Slim, and he's told me many stories about Magic Sam.

Unfortunately, I never got to see Luther, but I've seen Bernard several times that THAT MAN ROCKS! I would put him up there in the top tier of all the blues-rock masters.

if anybody wants to get a good luther DVD/CD combo, "songs from the road" is a good one.
you get a full length dvd and a full length cd as a 2 disc set for like $12.
cant be beat. i believe it was shot like 4 months or so before he passed. best money ive spent in a while. great stuff guys.
