So guys...After 18 years, I think I have gotten all the enjoyment possible from playing the guitar. When I do play lately, I'm not having much fun, and I think it may just be time to quit beating a dead horse and just give it up.

Sorry to hear that. I stopped playing for over 25 years. My job and raising a family prevented me from playing in groups, so I just stopped playing altogether. I have been back playing for my own enjoyment only for almost 4 years now and I will play as long as I am able to. I am sorry I did not play for so long. You might want to consider taking a couple of months off to rethink your decision. Whatever you decide to do, your knowledge of playing the guitar will never go away and will be waiting for you if and when you play again. Good luck.

You can,t just stop something bad will happen in the universe. You might be putting to much pressure on yourself to get a band going. Just play for yourself. Playing guitar is something special and a good way to pick up chicks.

if you sucked, but, you are actually quite good so take a breather for a minute. I for one am looking forward to the sidewinders first ep or lp or whatever you track Bro.

Been there. I no longer take music serious, I just play to have a little fun and waste time. I honestly have more fun buying / selling / collecting.

It is worth sticking with, don't give in.... and don't sell your #1 !

I'll never sell the Tele Nevin...but I do think I may do as you did and just give up on trying to do anything serious with my music...I think that's when I typically get tired of playing.

So take an extended R&R and see how you feel in a couple of months, Tim. I suspect you'll grow to regret it immensely if you simply "furl the colors and stand down" permanently.

Thanks for the advice guys. I don't think I'll give it up for good, but as WayCool correctly guessed, I have a lot of much more important stuff going on right now.
But yeah, I think I'm gonna take a break from it for a while and see how I feel once I have time I can dedicate to music again.

Tim, you got my opinion on Facebook, where I first saw this.

Now go find a Peruvian nose flute music band.

If it's stale, it's cos you've spent too much time on one area.
All the best mate.

ok tim i have a great idea. since your not gonna be using that fine new jetcity amp ya just got, send it out my way. i'll play it loud and proud for you,
change the tubes when needed, might even relic it for you on occation, and when your ready, come give us a shout and i'll send it back over when your ready to play again.
ok? you can free up some space in the house by doing this and everybody will be happy
and life goes on, or does it? :?

Tim, I'm surprised by this and hope that with some time for reflection, you once again feel the fire burning. Good luck with whatever you do.........Mike

We all get frustrated or annoyed sometimes, you just gotta get back to why you play music.
