They should have gotten a LOT closer. The question was, could you get AWAY from the SRV sound to the "classic" strat sound if you wanted to with the Specials, and/or could you get close to the SRV with the Standard? Basically, which would be most versatile, and how versatile do you want your next guitar to be?

With a decent amp and decent guitar, a good player makes up 85 to 90 percent of the sound, anyway.

ohh i see what you are saying, i have a few deluxe mexi strats, i just wanted to buy usa for a change and with my type of music i think the texas specials would sound better, but i dont know if im losing quality with the special
