Bought one used cheap off of Amazon($35) to have a cheap guitar to play around with out here in Iraq that I wouldn't care if it totally got destroyed by IDF or whatever.

It's not terrible, it's an above-average beginner cheapy-somewhere between Starcaster and Squier in Fender terms-but there are a handful of things that bug the $@!& out of me on it, #1 being the bridge and #2 being the nut. Should it be possible, with string spacing and everything considered to drop a decent TOM in it?

if you don't mind drilling and setting anchors....yes.
you're right about it being the equivalent of the Starcaster, and you got it at a good price, they sell at "Target" for $89.99 currently.

instead of a TOM, why not one of the adjustable saddle wraparound bridges made to replace what you have now?

clicked on the link, Arlen Roth is a hip dude, I know a local guitar player Michael Tafoya with a Gibson endorsement and wondering if he might get one of those 7 string Flying Vs, good luck with your project, stay safe Bro.

Do you have acess to the PX and can you get parts through them? If someone were to send you guitar stuff through the male would you get it? and how long might it take?:)

The PXs here are minimarts only, just junk food and toiletries. I ordered some parts from Stewmac, still waiting on their arrival though :( Ordered bridge, bushing, studs, and a nut:( The bridge saddles and nut are gonna need to be slotted though, which will be a first for me.

Bridge, strings, capo(Johnny Cash capo:D), bushings came in. Put on the bridge, restrung it and it is much better now. Nut, tools, strap still yet to arrive.

Slotting the saddles was...not fun, and not pretty, but I was able to intonate the guitar pretty decently.

Hey man, not sure of your situation over there or what type unit your are with. But if you get down to the motor pool, look up the closest 45k (turret technician), they should have one of the most complete extractor kits available if you haven't gotten the pegs out yet.

I'm with an NSW(Naval Special Warfare) unit, Task Force Trident, so we don't really have a motorpool=\

But I got them out well enough, had to use some Teflon tape on one of the new ones to get it as snug as I wanted, but all turned out okay.

Can't keep my head down, I'm a Special Warfare Combatcraft Crewman, it's my job to be the first to stick his head out ;)

Got my Orange MicroCrush, Mogami Silver Cable, and new strap. The Orange is a little beast, 3w but kicks pretty good.

Still waiting on the nut and stuuff from Stewmac :(
