So, my cheapo guitar cables are starting to cut in and out. I only perform for myself and the dog, so a 10 footer is plenty long enough. Any suggestions? Brand, grade, spend at least $x?

Thanks

Any quality low-capacitance, oxygen-free cable with US-made Switchcraft plugs should suffice. Twenty bucks or less at any store.

Best of luck

Arjay

I've been using the same set of Road Hog cables for gigging and at home for about 20 years and they are still going strong. They cost a bit more than average but the longevity of them makes up for that in a big way.

If you can afford, go for Evidence Audio Lyrics; nothing compares.
Somewhat less expensive are the Elixir Cables.

I've been using George L's for a while. I really like them. Quiet and sound great. They're middle of the road price wise and I've never had any problems with them.

I tend to use Monster and Planet Waves but I've got a couple of real cheap leads I bought at a little store in Arbroath, Scotland and they have lasted me for years without any problems for live and studio playing.

I use cheap stuff from MUSIC123, seems no matter what I buy I end up killing them anyway.

I use Monster Cables and if you ever have a problem with one, Guitar Center will honor the lifetime warranty and exchange it, no problem. More expensive to begin with, but you only pay once.

You may also want to check your input jack ( I KNOW it is actually output!!) and switch it to a new Switchcraft jack. That solved problems I thought were cable related in both my Fender Custom Shop guitars. Now, all the new Squiers I've bought get a new Switchcraft Jack immediately (The import jack is not as good).

I use the "Ernie Ball Ultra-flex" cable, with the killswitch end.
$30 USD, and no signal passes until it's plugged completely into the guitar, no "pops, screeches, or amplified buzz".......safer for your amp and guitar both.

been using it daily for 2 years now without any issues......

One good Monster or Planet Waves cable will outlast a basket full of cheap cables.

Mogami Gold. Top Notch, heavy-duty cables. I have used many different brands, and the only cable that ever came close to Mogami was the D.I.Y Canare cable I used for the last 10 years (still works, but I wanted gold plated connections so I upgraded). If you are capable of basic soldering, buy some good cable and some good connectors and you can have a top of the line cable for a fraction of what something like the evidence audio cables will run. Off the shelf though, my vote is with Mogami.
