Hi Everybody,
I'm Jennifer Burton and I'm the Marketing Communications Manager for Fender. One of my areas of support for the company is with Fender's goal to support women that rock!

I love to see women joining the forum and encourage all of you to invite other women that rock to join. Heck, even if they aren't players, they are welcome join us!

In fact, I just might call on you for some assistance with marketing and product ideas.

Thanks for being here and keep supporting one another.

All the best,
Jennifer

Hi, Jennifer! Glad to see there's someone who understands women's needs in the Marketing Department! Way to go! (Incidentally, that doesn't necessarily include pink guitars...) I think we want a good guitar that's well set-up, just like the guys do. Something that makes us feel good when we play it. Something that says "here's someone who knows her guitars!"

Another female guitar player here. I've been a guitarist for 14 years and been playing in the same all female punk band for the last 10 years.

I'm very excited about the new Forum that Fender has created for us. What a great job! Forums like this are so important for networking among female musicians.

Marketing to the female guitarist is tricky. I've definitely known girls that play feminine style guitars. But I think the majority of us do not. The balance and action are so much more important. When guitar companies try to lighten-up the guitars to accommodate women, the balance tends to get ruined. Anyway, I prefer to play a heavy guitar...that looks mean...and sounds even meaner.

I agree, Sweetie. Women shouldn't need smaller or lighter guitars. I still play my dad's old Dreadnought from time to time, and it's heavy, but not as heavy as my acoustic-electric, for obvious reasons. I never did much with electrics growing up, but now that I've discovered them, I like them a lot! Oh, the tones! Wow. I've discovered that even classical and jazz sound great when they're toned out. (Maybe not with major fuzz, but still---!) Awesome!

I would think that most female guitar players don't want a frilly gussed up specially made for a girly girl guitar. They have guitar idols like us guys do and want to play what they play.
