I'm saving up money to buy a Stratocoustic. It would be my first acoustic and I hope I have enough money by the end of this summer. Just wanted to know what some opinions on it were. I have played it both unplugged and plugged and I think it sounds nice either way. So if anyone has any opinions on it please share.

P.S. If I don't end up getting this I'm going to try and save up enough for an Blacktop HH Tele but that wouldn't happen before Christmas.

Thanks!

Fender makes two of thease little gems, a Telecoostic and a Stratocoostic. I paid $249.99 Ea. for two of them. They look nice and dont sound too bad. Each of ours were setup wrong. The action was to high and were brutal to play, especially for a 10 yr. old kid. That was a matter of ajustmant, no big deal. The real problem was when the Plastic material that the entire back was constructed of began to CRACK and seporate fron the top of the body. I returned them to the store and traided htem for a coventional guitar. The store owner said that he had never seen that before and would look into it with the factory rep. good luck and (BUYER BEWARE).

The only thing that I had to have done with my Stratacoustic was to have the action lowered. With the Start neck and lower action it's a great player.Although when played acoustically it isn't as full as a real all wood dreadnaught it is quite nice sounding however when it's played electrically is when it really sings-it's just great.I use D'Addario 10-46 nickel wound with the wound G on mine and find that they sound and feel great. All in all it's a great guitar.

I'd try some other regular acoustics or elec/acoustics first and then if thats what I still wanted, I would get it.

I recently puchased a Fender CD200CE, and IMO it's the best bang for the buck...this guitar has a low action with no buzzing..I wanted the CD220CE(koa), but it was out of stock...so I tried the former and was very impressed. It has Fishman electronics with treble, mid, bass, and is not tinny sounding. Its plenty loud enough without an amp, but sounds great plugged too. Go to your nearest store and try it out, I think you will be pleased. There were no issues with mine, except some manufacturing residue on the first fretwire, which was easily removed while changing the factory Fender strings over to Elixirs. Hope this info helps!

+1

I, personally, am not that struck on them.......I don't like how they play or sound. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they are bad but there are many more available at the same price point that are far more playable and are acoustically more pleasing. I think, too, that as a first acoustic it isn't really giving you a 'proper' feel for acoustuc guitar. Sorry

DOn't mean to sound negative because it is all about personal preference and if that is what you desire then go for it......

While it technically is my first acoustic, my sister has one and it's pink. I know the differances between it and my sisters but I want something I can take out and a pink guitar with a heart shaped sound hole isn't going to cut it.

I also tried a CD but forgot what number followed it, maybe a six. I really like that one too but its about $200 out of what I can afford.
