Something in what Sunburst Blues had to offer gives me thought as to members of the Forum getting together as a group at one of the Boston Blues Society's gigs. I'll look for Mike to comment on this alternate idea. There may be other possibilities which might grow out of that one.

I don't think that this would work as these jams usually only allow 2 or 3 tunes each for the regular attendees and some still never get any stage time.

I've gone ahead and asked a studio friend about renting/using his studio in CT, but he declined and suggested a public place such as Elks, Moose, VFW type halls.

At this point we need a definite head count to move forward and book someplace. I think a Saturday afternoon from about 1:00pm to 5:00pm might work best. I'm estimating that approx 15-20 would really attend...does this sound right?

other suggestions and comments welcome...

That sounds great! FENDERSTOCK

A goal without a plan is just a wish though, so we need to get a headcount and preferred date to move forward and to make this really happen.

Logistics is the first thinking. I've just kicked back to Mike on that.

If it were an all weekend kind of thing I would try getting across the border for it. I think a single night 3 or 4 hours probably wouldn't be enough time for all who wanted to jam to have the opportunity. So asking people to travel possibly hundreds of miles for a tenuous slot isn't as appealing as say a garuanteed spot or multiple chances to sit in.

Yeah, this is sounding more and more like something suitable for local guys. It's a great thought, the idea of getting all of the lounge guys together, it's a fantastic kind of dream scenario that we would all love to attend but just not possible as an arranged event.
For guys like us, to come so far would have to be a kind of 1 or 2 week musical vacation and for us all to be available at the same time, with something extra special thrown in for an ultimate finale. ( e.g a gig )
The thought of arranging such a thing is hugely difficult and beyond one or two guys to put together. It would indeed be like creating some kind of Fender Woodstock event.
Mike, if I may pressume an imaginary picture of what I'm saying.
If, say it was the other way around and I am here in the UK and close to a town called Liverpool and I want to create this kind of thing, whereby I ask all the Fender guys from the UK and US and anywhere else in the world, who interested, to attend.
A 2 week slot is agreed and all parties are booked into a hotel in Liverpool.
I arrange rehearsal facilities in a club, jamming and further, to create a full nights set list, musicians are swapped at various points, so that all interested in playing in an actual band can do so.
The whole event culminates in our somewhat large band playing a gig at the Cavern, that will have been previously arranged. The guys in the band would actually fill the place and when not playing would be the audience.
If we are using titles like Official Fender Lounge, then that is carrying a lot of weight, especially if OffIcial Fender are involved. An approach to Brad etc.

Anyway, I would think somewhere along those lines Mike. Yes, of course the logistics are daunting like the Doc said but is it really impossible? Perhaps yourself and others could arrange something in the US similar to the idea I've outlined.
You need the right guys for this and look towards any strengths that may be available, for instance, Official Fender, it wouldn't do them any harm......would it?
All the best wishes.

i'm just saying my opinion, i think it should be a weekend thing, cause people aren't gonna travel halfway across the US just for a couple of hours. you should have it at a place thats kinda outa town, on a block of land suitable for tents, with some electricity outlet (unless it'll be acoustic  ). an i'm serious here, it'll be alot more reasonable that way.

Fenderstock's a great name, really like that 8)

damn it wish i could go either way!!

So it was with respect to something Mike explored yesterday.

The ideas expressed in the past few posts are variation on the Fender University idea, which demonstrates the size of the undertaking. I wonder why FMIC only ran two programs?

Thats something like what I think. Or rent a banquet hall for a night. People that are going to come pich in so theres a commitment. A couple hundred a head things could be fun. Jam all night long. I know easier said than done but its an idea.

Those two previous suggestions have been on a back burner in my thinking, in that I live in a club community. I can tell you for a fact that you're talking considerable bucks, and a no-refund committment. As I said in one of my earlier posts, the logistics will have to be along the lines of planning some kind of celebration event, like a birthday, and by doing it in a hotel, as suggested, you can figure on a weekend event w/ a Saturday overnite. The number of attendees will have to be considerable to cover the cost of the venue.

In reality, I'm guessing that 4 to 12 forum members might attend something like this.

Waiting for more locals to chime in like Jeffo in RI, Giljanus and VTBlackstrat in VT, Dutchy and Frankie in MA, 53Magnatone in CT along with a few others whose names escape me.

I've attended a few of these and in most cases more say that they'll show up than actually do. (Work commitments, unplanned family stuff, health issues, etc)

With that being said, this is just a thread with comments until we start talking headcounts and tentative dates.
