there is a mag out on the stands guitar one and guitar world presents, eric clapton.
go get your copy while you can. this mag rocks. it gives a blow by blow on the blues as far back as anyone can remember in this country. its probably one of the only mags you will read cover to cover.

the mag walks you through several of the blues greats history.
in the middle it gives you the top 50 blues/rock tunes.
i dont agree with all of them though.

I ot a magazine a few months ago, classic rock magazine. They had a special all about Clapton, it wqs really well done. It went right back to the start of his career and followed him right up until today. It also had a few articles the bqlqnced out the praise with some criticism. All in all it was really enjoyable. its definitely one of those "keeper" magazines

most of them are pretty much the same month after month. this one just blew me away with all the info it had in it.

It was one of those things that really inspires you to play. It makes you want to pick up your guitar and rock out all day.

exactly. the thing is, they told you about him during the cream days and the derek days. really beefed it up and his playing. all these loud amps and everything. i just dont see him as this "force to be reckoned with" at all in those days. i just dont hear it.

I always liked Clapton, but reading this made me respect him so much more. He's playing in Glasgow tonight, man I wish I got tickets for that, just couldn't afford them at the time.

I had tickets to see him along with Jeff Beck couple of years ago in London, but my friend who promissed to sort trains and hotels screwed up and I couldnt go.....
I dont speak to him anymore.

i never was a fan of eric's until the last yr or so.
reading this book makes me more knowledgable
of his past. i still cant understand why hes been in so many bands.
most of which broke up in a yr or less time it sounds. im betting
he was hard to deal with back then and thats a big part of the
reason. my own opinion ok, but im guessing he didnt settle
down and really become as humble as he is until he lost his son.

I dont think anyone could get along with Baker back then though.

That's true... Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker couldn't stand each other, but, were envious of each others' incredible talent. Their constant arguing and fighting drove Clapton away and led to the breakup of Cream.

Heck, I read about the 2005 Cream Reunion that they did at the Royal Albert Hall and also at Madison Square Garden. Even after all these decades, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker STILL couldn't bury the hatchet and get along!

That would be Jack Bruce, one of the best there is,and Ginger gave him and their conflict as the reason the Cream reunion soured.
