Hope this isn't too late...I have a piece of ebony in a rough bridge shape left over from one I made in 2001. It is in my storage area, and I will have to find it. But if you can still use it for your Framus, it's yours.
An old Framus/Hofner/Goya trick was to use little pieces of fretwire to make the individual string saddles with. I did this on a Silvertone I use for slide work, and it works quite nicely if you want to brighten the tone. Of course, the sound of the wooden bridge itself is lovely. By the way, I lived in Montreal for most of the 70's, and was introduced to Digestive Biscuits there. They are far and away my favorite dunker!

Work sucks. :x

I too have recently been savaged by too much work and not enough play. Seriously tempted to move out and live in a shed, building guitars all day. Ho-hum...

Andy mate, thanks for the offer on the bone saddle blank! I think for this particular instance I will try to actually carve it a bit compensating out of wood, whatever that carving may look like in the end. So hold on to that piece of bone for now, maybe we could use it when we attempt that acoustic build, eh? 8)

Will do, but your the one building that acoustic mate! That be a job for you skilled craftsmen to part take in. I'll more than happily play the crap out of it once your done! :D

hi ashtone, thanks for your offer! But I have to order some wood for other projects anyway, so I'll probably get that in bulk. Thanks so much for your generosity! I'm sure we could've worked out some sort of reciprokation - maybe next time! :)

Thanks again,

Nutter
P.S.: Yep now I'm craving for some Digestives. ;-)

No problem! By the way, do you have a process for determining the correct position for each string's compensated position on the new bridge? I'd be glad to help you with that, as well, if you need.

Coincidently, my work I.D. badge has a quality pic of me dressed up as a wookie... Pending pics me thinks!

Hi super kid: a little bird tells me that Mr Nutter has a living to earn and is snowed under with 10 and 12 hour days doing his job. That little bird also tells me that he won't forget to come back and finish the story of this thread when he has a chance to do so.

Sit tight and don't worry. You'll get the end of the tale sooner or later.

Cheers - C
