Well...I didn't make the cut, and there were only 5 contestants! The people who were watching was shocked that I didn't win. You can watch my 'non-winning' performance here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puqPD0L2Vjo .

Nice tone and riffage, Tony!

What amp were you using?

Thanks for our kind words.

I used the Twin, with my BOSS ME-20 http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=894&ParentId=46 with just a little drive dialed in.

Sounds good Tony!! I like your use of the volume knob. A lot of people never use the tone or volume knobs at all. Cool, my friend! 8)

I am not trying to be an internet jerk, but I didn't care for the performance. To me it sounded like the same few runs over and over, like bedroom noodling. It sounded like you just went in and "winged" it. You didn't get into the "pocket".
I am just trying to provide constructive criticism and hope you don't take it as an attack.

Just got home and watched.

Did they allow lyrics? Sounds like it'd be sweet with added lyrics.

No I don't take it as an attack..but I don't understand about playing into the 'pocket', perhaps you could record and show me what you mean. I could have done some chord work, like the other guys, but I soloed thru the 3:10 entire track.

Several people came over to me, and to one judge and said that they thought it was fixed. I'm not tossing 'sour grapes', but that one judge told me it was politics, the other two wouldn't even look at me.

Our guitar player is a judge in the competition- he was honored to be asked. I think it's great.

It's the chord progression as BB King's 'The Thrill Is Gone' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fk2prKnYnI, so I didn't think it needed more lyrics. I've played this song a millions times over the years, and can play BB's style but didn't..

I would be doing no favors by being nice and saying that I liked the solo... The biggest problem with these contests is the judges don't tell you what you are doing wrong...

1) your rhythm sounded not only repetitive but your notes sounded off rhythmically.
2) you did a lot of the same thing,
3) I really didnt care for the multi string runs ...
3) There were a couple of notes in there that just didn't belong with the background chords...
4) I thought it needed more variety with speed runs and slow runs.. I just heard a lot of slow like quarter note spaced runs...

Sorry man.. But what I complain most about people is that they dont tell me I suck enough... Nobody gets better with dishonest feedback..
