Hi,

I'm interested in getting as much information as possible gathered about the special limited edition collection that Fender released as celebration of the Fender Company 50th Anniversary. This collection is easily to recognise on the anique sunburst, gold hardware and individually numbered neckplate.
If you have a 1996 Fender with a "50th Anniversary" sticker on the back of the headstock and a standard Fender Serial No. e.g. N6xxxxxx, then your instrument it is not a part of the special limited edition collection this thread is made for.

The limited edition collection (total limited amount produced):
- 50th American Standard Stratocaster (2500)
- 50th American Standard Stratocaster Left Handed (250)
- 50th American Standard Telecaster (1250)
- 50th American Standard Precision Bass (500)
- 50th American Standard Jazz Bass (500)
- 50th American Standard Jazz Bass V String (500)

You can see the 1996 magazine ad that Fender ran on this limited edition collection by following the link below
http://gallery.me.com/abchansen#100076&bgcolor=black&view=grid

I myself have just made a bargain on a Jazz Bass V from this collection (serial no. JV449), and I would like to know more about how the collection was concieved?, where they buildt in the Custom Shop?, and all other pieces of information that you members (and maybe members of the Fender staff) can add to this thread.

Cheers, Brian

Hi Brian,
What all would you like to know? I have the complete set of all 6 guitars.
In vintage guitar they say they are custom shop guitars but they don't have the custom shop logo.
The left handed strat is the hardest to find if you can even find one because they only made 250.
If you are interested I could send you pictures of my set so you could see them.
At this point I'm selling my set plus I have jackets, pins, belt buckles and much more that has to do with that set.
These guitars are not vintage but according to Fender they are collectable because they represent the 50th anniversary of the company 1946 to 1996.
This set will be worth a lot of money in time as it is already worth a bit.
If I can be of any help let me know.
Take care
Joe

How interesting that a guy has a very detailed question regarding a fifteen year old collection of guitars in his first post, and then another guy who owns the ENTIRE COLLECTION that just HAPPENS TO BE FOR SALE and uses a remarkably similar writing style answers his post...and both posters have less than five posts each...

Hmmm...

I dont know what you are saying but I haven't even been on here in about 2 years.
Maybe I was wrong to say I have the whole set and it's for sale on here and I'm sorry if I shouldn't of said that.
I'm not trying to sell it on here I just mention that I have the whole set and mentioned it's for sale maybe I just should of left the selling part out.
You can go and see when I joined and a long time ago I had pictures of my collection on here.
Thanks
Joe

Hi Joe,

Sorry for not replying until now, but I simply had the idea that I would get a email or some kind of notice when somebody posted to my thread.

My reason for startibg this thread was simply that after buying my JV, I tried to find out a bit about the collection. The info available on the net was very limited, so I thought it could be an idea to get a place "on the net" where future owners of this series could find info.

Please do mail me good pictures if you do have the time, and I will add them to my public space for this purpose.

I find it flattering that Armadillo find that we might be the same person, since I am danish and living in Denmark, and have not been writing in english for quite some time, so I must be doing quite allright

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Brian

I realize this thread is old..
I also have the entire set of 50th Anniversary guitars, in Mint condition..
Was curious what the seller here got for his collection, as Im thinking of selling mine too..
Was thinking about finding a dealer who would have the right customers for these, maybe just do consignment..

Where would one go for classifieds related specifically for FENDER products?

If you really are serious about getting information about Fender products an excellent place to start would be Fender Customer Service. Remember, "Honesty is the best policy." Referring to the Proverb: "You should always tell the truth, even when it seems as if it would be useful to tell a lie."

:?: Hi, it’s my first post here. I am a proud owner of a P bass, 50th anniversary 1996. But there are so little informations on the net about that particular instrument. On the Fender official site the collection is not even mentioned, nor in the part where you can find the serial numbers....
