hi,

I am interested in the danelectro 56' single cutaway, but I wonder about the bridge. It has a rosewood saddle, and I dont know if it is adjustable or not. here is a picture:Image

this may seem a bad question, but it is important to know before I try and possibly buy.

IIRC the Danelectro's roseweood saddle mounts to the bridge plate by means of a single vertical dowel pin, centered between D and the G string. Thus, the saddle can be pivoted to provide a rudimentary method of setting an average intonation for each string's overall scale length. The principle is much the same as a stop-bar tailpiece on a Melody Maker or a Les Paul Jr, where the intonation is determined via set-screws on each end of the bridge which push against the tailpiece's mounting studs.

Yep. I have an original 57 U1. Coke Bottle headstock. No adjustable truss rod. and Mine has a small phillips head screw on the underside of the bridge to keep it centered. Like Arjay says just angle it for intonation. Mine has what seems to be an aluminum nut too. Very cool sounding guitars. Mine came out of a trash can LOL. Plenty of Mojo.

thanks-so the intonation can be changed-is the way of adjustment a downer on the guitar, 63supro? or are they still great guitars?

I don't have a problem with it. The way of adjustment isn't a problem and it holds well. I still think they are great guitars with a tone all their own.
