I have pedals, from Boss to Fab, etc. and I really like the GT8 for recording purposes and bedroom playing.....hell I just like it.

Sounds like how I am with my Digitech RP7. I don't have anymore pedals (except for an old Cry Baby wah).

My personal settings on my Digitech RP7
Bank 1:1 -- Tube Blues (Distortion), Chorus, w/ a hint of Delay.
Bank 1:2 -- Clean, Chorus.
Bank 1:3 -- Overdrive, Delay (slapback echo, rockabilly)
Bank 1:4 -- Tube Blues (Distortion), Wah Wah (even though the Digitech's Wah sound sucks)

Bank 2:1 -- Tube Blues (Distortion), Flanger (i.e. sounds like Heart's "Barracuda").
Bank 2:2 -- Overdrive, Octave (mix full - guitar & bass together)
Bank 2:3 -- Clean, Tremelo (old school 50's and 60's tone).
Bank 2:4 -- Saturation (Distortion), Pitch Shift (down 1 step, sort of a doom metal tone).

Banks 3:1-4 and Banks 4:1-4 are a duplicate of the above tones, but, they are modified, tweaked, EQ adjusted, and have different reverbs and cabinets, for both playing with headphones and recording into my PC using Cool Edit Pro or using my old Tascam Portastudio 414.

I would like to hang onto the Digitech just for recording purposes, but not use it with my Fender Frontman 65R. I'd like to pick up a nice Boss Chorus and an Ibanez Tube Screamer or the Boss Blues Driver pedal. Maybe a delay and an EQ pedal along the line. The possibilities are endless! 8)

before you try that screamer or blues pedal, look hard at the fulltone OCD pedal.

It's actually super easy to use, even though it looks really intimidating at first. There's a very good video on youtube demonstrating how it works if you're like me and prefer watching the movie rather than reading the book. ;) Of course, it's a little different than grade school book reports because it really does help to hear all of the different settings as you're watching. They're long, and there's two of them but here's the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gTiHUSg6G4

I had forgotten about those. I wanted to hear them when they came out, but demos were scarce. I just found some on youtube and unfortunately now I'm feeling very GASsy.

one Ibanez Tube Screamer that I use for a couple of songs but I would like to get a bass chorus pedal and a flanger at some time in the future.

Started with nothing but amp and guitar...then added Digitech RP250.
Just recently added ZVEX Distortron Pedal and Danelectro Cool Cat OD to a Dunlop Wah. Also picked up a Digitech Looper though still figuring that out. The RP is very versatile and I'll never get rid of that but it's currently not hooked up while I get used to the individual pedals. So addicting this gui-tar stuff... :!:

Personally, I use a Digitech RP250 effects pedal. Usually, my performances are in a worship band and they have the rack amps, sound board....basically everything beyond my output cord. We do fairly quick changes from one song to the next. I'll set up what I want ahead of time for sounds, arrange them so that they are in order from the top and be able to just do simple one-pedal changes. I've considered separate pedals, but sounds from one song to another can be vastly different and I don't have the time from the last chord of one song to the intro to the next to do anything more than tap one pedal.

Yup, with the 60 USER presets on top of the 60 Factory presets, you have a lot of flexibility for quick changes.

That's what I'm hopping for! Gets tough trying to remember timing ...and being able to explore too!

dude the record rhythm and play leads over idea is perfect.
a great way of working through all the keys.
i use mine totally as a practice tool. plus when you play live,
at sound check you can record and hit playback while the band
is warming up and you can walk out and hear your over all tone and
volume.

I just use a couple of pedals - chorus, reverb and a/b switch.

I had a Pod for years and could just never get my head round it!! I only had the FB4 pedalboard and think that was probably why I couldn't control volumes and the such properly.

When I use anything at all it's pedals and I build and mod them myself except for my wah and that'll be coming as soon as the innards crap out. They're all BYOC. I build them for the relaxation factor.
