(This is nuttin' to do with guitars...)

Now I know what my wife does at work - she spends her time finding silly stuff on Twitter and then she emails it to me. And what I do at work seems to be posting those links on the Fender Forum for others to enjoy.

Strange - and fun:

Well, that wasted a couple of minutes of your day, anyhow.

Cheers - C

Fascinating stuff Ceri, I could spend hours looking at that kind of thing myself.
Thanks for sharing it with us. :D

I thought it was important to shake the Martini? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUUq5mRCimo

Ah well - at any rate the pendulum is a fascinosum: You can literally see time swinging away! (I'm here all night, folks!). Thanks for that link! Are you bored at all, Ceri? 8)

Cheers

It's strange how it looked like various sine waves, elemental/DNA models and other wave forms while the pendulums were swinging.

It's funny how you'll see repetitive patterns in nature, physics, etc.; it's almost like there was a single designer behind it all... :P

The patterns that so quickly become evident are just further proof of a creator to me. Just MHO, no disrespect to those of us who have differing beliefs.

Ah-ha: it's the most famous of Ian Fleming's many faux pas. Given that the adolescent objective of most martini drinkers is to get the thing as strong as possible you should never shake it, because doing so dissolves more of the ice into the spirit, so diluting it. A real martini is always stirred, not shaken. Like its drinker.

"Shaken not stirred" is Fleming's version of Leo Fender's "tremolo" bridge. It's wrong but we long since stopped minding.

Secretly I sympathise with Daniel Craig's line; "Do I look like I give a damn?" But for what it's worth this recipe isn't bad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc7n7yyX ... re=related

Substitute Plymouth Gin for the Gordons and vodka and he's onto something there. Lillet really is nicer than ordinary vermouth. (We've done why the "Kina" part of the name he mentions is anachronistic before on the Forum. No need to go over that ground again. But it's another of Fleming's solecisms.)

Bottoms up.

I had some straight up bleu cheese olive martinis over the weekend
in Vegas that were kind of stirring.

Cheese in a martini? Man, that's so weird - you might be onto something! I HAVE to try it! :D

Forum user AndyBigHair recently introduced me to a drink called Tuaca. One of the maker's recipes calls for Tuaca shaken over ice with olive... and hot chorizo sausage on the cocktail stick:

http://www.tuaca.com/recipe.aspx?id=1806

That sounds so disgusting - it might just work! I'll let you know.

Cheers (hiccup) - C

PS: now this thread's on the right track. 8)

Hi SA: what's interesting to me here is that there is no actual physical link or relation between those swinging balls (er, forgive the picture that phrase paints in your mind). They are not working together like molecules in a causal relationship in an actual wave, at sea for instance. It is mere coincidence that they happen to have started their individual cycles at the same time and so any patterns we perceive are merely the interpretation our own minds bring to bear.

I wonder if Forum user Orvilleowner has a mathematician's phrase to describe that? Non-causal synchronicity - or something?

Be all that as it may, we just can't help seeing those patterns and having our brains make links between those balls that aren't really there. Powerful things, human brains! 8)

There are many rumours about what Ceri does for a living, all of them wrong. But I'm prepared to admit that I have indeed been a barman in my time. I'm not proud: I'll mix your drink. Come and fetch it.

By the way, sorry can't resist, will that be served at the Nag's Head in Peckham.......next to Nelson Mandela House.........actually then we could call you 'Mike'

Nothing wrong with being a barman by the way.......at the last census, my occupation was 'Cocktail Barman' Screaming Orgasm anyone???? :?:
