If you can get that for $3,000 you robbed him, matching headstock Jazzmasters of that year routinely go for over 5 grand.

now do you really need me to come up there and buy it ahead of you?
ok nevin, buy what your passion is. if you dont its wasted money brother, no matter how good of a deal it is or was. dont buy because its a deal, buy because it speaks out to you,
or because you have a set plan for it already.
the guitar seems to be in good shape. at that price i would have to lay hands on it, play it.
these type of guitars are starting to become popular again as you know.
if the interest doesnt take a sudden downturn, you might have a good investment there.
might be able to double your money in a couple of yrs.

the case isnt original is it? im not sure myself.
the painted headstock is a eye catcher to be sure.
if you have a choice i think the painted headstock is always the one to have.

The case appears to be original to the instrument, or at least period-correct for the era.

i'll take your word arjay.
i just wasnt sure and wanted nevin to look into it for himself if he goes to look at the guitar. its always something to consider when looking at the price of a vintage fiddle.

Indeed. But Nevin has a pretty good eye for the details. Plus there are plenty of reference resources he can call upon for info should the need arise.

yes he does. it seems that this is a urgent situation as if time is a factor here.
i hope he goes and at least looks at the package. might be a interesting find here.
if not, he can at least meet the seller. i try to meet as many sellers as i can.
they can be a great eye on the market for you as well as potential to becoming
a friend at the same time.

'Morning, Nevin: just to be boringly sensible about it for a second, you're not going to dream of parting with money for that guitar without seeing the inside of the pickguard, the neck pocket and the end of the neck, are you?

And if you have already seen photos of those things... show us, please! :D

Cheers - C
