I hadn't heard that. Given that it has been stated that there was a firefight I would refuse to pass judgement on this until more information is provided, then I would take provided information with a grain of salt. If they were innocently watching TV in a corner, yes it would be considered harsh. I highly doubt that was the case, but since I doubt we'll never know I can't judge.

In the original reports last night they reported that the members of his family who were killed were one of his adult sons (who was engaged in battle) and one of his (Osama's) many wives which he had used as a human shield. No civilians were harmed, and no revenge was exacted on Osama's family although I'm sure it was within our power to do so.

He was buried at sea so that his burial site did not become a shrine, and he was buried in accordance with Islamic practices so that it couldn't be used as propaganda against us if we didn't. We're treading on pins and needles here, especially with Pakistan I would imagine. We don't want to give them any fuel for hate.

What I would like to know is how would the US react if the Pakistani army rocked up in their choppers and carried out a hit on one of their enemies of state that was hiding out in the US.

Edit: I should clear up, I don't want to start any arguments! I mean you have to take the chance to take these people when you have it, but I feel like just launching a hit on foreign turf is a dangerous game, I'm sure the US government would not appreciate it at all if it happened on home soil.

SEAL Team 6 doesn't exist anymore actually. It's been designated Naval Special Warfare Development Group. Just because somebody said something on TV or printed in a newspaper doesn't mean they know what they're talking about.

An unaligned paramilitary organization, without warning, attacked the United States on 9/11/01, and made no bones about who, how, and why. The United States, already having a military presence in their country, made it clear and understood to the Pakistani government that if and when, we would take unilateral action against that organization's titular head, if found within their borders. There was no disagreement. Bin Ladin was, to some, not all it seems, as much an enemy of that state as ours. It is best done with. Time to move on.
