Does anyone have a problem using them for higher priced items. I've been hesitant using them in the past for the high value stuff, although I have had good luck selling a few things.

What are your thoughts and do you have any horror stories? What would be your limit?

The most I have spent on eBay for one item was $600. I had no problems, the transaction went smooth.

only thing I have done on the 'bay is a old video game a few years back that one of my sons had to have. The transaction went fine. Of course I could count on one hand the number of times he has played it since.

With guitars, I have found that you really need a chance to play it and see if there is a bond. I went through 37 LP Standards before I found the one. My strats were much easier to find!!! Way to go Fender!!! If the seller offers a no questions asked 3 day return then I would say go for it. If not then buyer beware.

I have purchased a Fender Bassman 400H amp head, Fender Pro Slant 410 bass speaker cabinet, (thing's huge), and a Fender 115 Pro speaker cabinet, (also huge), all from different sellers from east coast to west. Everything has arrived in good condition and working perfectly. Also I think I got great deals!! I have yet to buy an instrument, though.

If you know what you want and educate yourself by "watching" items and what they sell for, be patient and you can find super deals. :D :D

Yeah, I hear you all. The main factors dragging me down are
1- it's alot of scratch although I feel it is right in line with the market, plus it's got some nice upgrades that I would want to do anyhow.

2- The possibility of not bonding with the instrument, although that can happen if I buy local, I'd just have a return policy.

The seller and I have communicated several times and he seems upfront and has answered my questions promptly and will be sending some specific pic's I asked for in the morning.

Seems like it's the one that would make me happy right now, tough decision.

Has Ebay changed there format for item search now to search by location or distance you have to put the info in a pop up window each time I liked it better when it was on the left and you just did zip and distance,

I've been an ebayer for almost 10 years and in that time I've been burned twice - both times for a small amount of money (under $25). One of these transactions I never got compensated for-the seller was banned pretty quickly- the second one I got all my money back. I have almost 300 transactions in that time and it's just a matter of being careful and knowing what to look for. I just scored a $70 noise suppressor pedal for $20. The best transaction was my MIM Strat. Now I've never bought a guitar without playing it except this one time- the deal was too good to pass up and it wound up being a match made in heaven! :D A $750 guitar for $400 and it still had the plastic on the pickguard and backplate. AND because of a small communication glitch between me and the seller- he felt bad so threw in a hard shell Freedom case for free! Gotta love it. :)

I used to take a few chances on fleabay back around 7 or 8 years ago, but after being burnt a couple of times, I prefer to try before I buy these days.

Spent 1400 bucks on an ebay purchase once. Biggest risk of my spending life, bigger reward. I had to go to ebay, as it was a discontinued guitar that I couldn't get anywhere else.

It will always be my number one strat, and I don't think I'm ever going to chance that large of a purchase on ebay again, despite the fact that this one went perfectly.

I was lucky, I bought a G&l S500 but I got in touch with the fella selling it and he told me I was welcome to try it out first. Luckily he was only an hour away from me. It plays like adream by the way. :D

Ya'll know the old "Tune" "If you've got the money honey, I've got the time. Thats Ebay. Wether it's a little money or alot of money ebay is pretty neat. I have been buying from there for almost a year now. All the parts I have needed tor restore my vintage fender guitars were there. Some were priced way to high and some were just right. I guess it comes down to, I can't find it know where's else, and how bad do I want an item. That has been my experince. However like in anything else you can get ripped ever once in awhile.......JJ

I bought a pretty rare telecaster on e-bay a few years ago. The transaction was smooth as silk. For pedals and cords I have never had a problem. You save a ton of cash. I also hate to feed the corporate machine known as guitar center, so if my local mom and pop music store does not have it (as is often the case) i go on ebay.
