Arjay,Is there any limit to your expertise?I've seen the excellent work that you do constructing speaker cabs and amps to original specs and now the detail in that model blows me away.I've assembled dozens of models over the years but have never been able to get the intricate detail you've achieved...Great Job!!!

Thanks, GS.

I'm afraid that I've botched every lemon meringue pie I've ever tried to bake.

I do have my limits.

+ 100 that is truly amazing Arjay, you must have great skill and patience. Watched the 50,s movie "the bridges at Toko RI " the other day, might have had those types on the carrier ? ? Along with the F9F panthers of course, im a bit of a fan of early jets!

"BATR" is a great film, Al. However, you might check out Michener's book as well (from which the movie was derived). The aircraft flown on the actual mission to Toko-Ri were F2H Banshees, but it's a small detail -- William Holden and Mickey Rooney were superbly cast and the film dealt with many human-interest angles very realistically.

I've got a crappy Sony digital camera. I really need to replace it and buy an SLR. I can never get good pix of my son cuz the camera is so slow he moves before I can get a good shot. Even still photos take a few times to get a good shot. I didn't buy it, it was a gift.

Yeah, the old Sony digitals were crap--with a battery-killing disc drive! When Sony finally came into the ram-chip age things got much better.

But the Sony Alpha series of SLRs is fully competitive with Nikon and Canon. Sony bought out Minolta and I've been thrilled with my Alpha 350. Had it almost 3 years now. They have new, lighter models, but... I've taken clear shots from a car moving at 50-60mph, and done better still photos than a professional who came in to do the same job. Not that I'm talented with a camera, but the box is that good. Plus all my old Minolta Maxxum lenses and adapters fit it, and even the old electronic "cable release" works. Got a hot-shoe adapter for my old SunPak flash and it works, too.

I never would have looked at Sony if it hadn't been for the Minolta Maxxum compatibility, and I've not been sorry I bought the Alpha for a single moment!

The only things about the newer ones is they are lighter, more compact, and now do video, and do it well.

No, but I really love my vintage Polaroid fold-er-flat. It's really getting hard to find the film for it... not to mention the dang flash bulbs!

This model was photographed on a purpose-built backdrop using a tripod and a remote-shutter release to eliminate any possibility of vibration at the moment of exposure. A tripod is also an excellent method of controlling how the shot is framed and optimizing the depth-of-field.

Dude, Is that a Skyraider? I don't know anything about planes, but I got to know an old Marine pilot that flew Skyraiders in Korea. Because of him I did some reading...The plane weighted about 7500 pounds and could take off with 10,000 pounds of bombs! I never knew anything like that was even possible. The enemy would know that hell came to breakfast if one of those showed up, huh?

Looks like a skyraider to me statobobster, obviously the creator would know for sure lol!

eh Arjay.

By the way the book Michener wrote which was made into the film we mentioned had some differences between the two. One such being F2H banshees in the book but F9F Grumman panthers in the movie. I say this not having read the book but just info from the net.
I will make an effort to read the book tho.

No doubt about the beauty of the model at all 8)
