Happy 78th Birthday Willie! I think one would be hard pressed to find someone who does not respect the man and his music! Here Willie and Bob Dylan cover a tune by Townes Van Zant. Great Stuff. 8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsR0Y-sW ... re=related

Hard to believe this cantankerous old bastard is still around. Here's one of my personal favorites:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxzJAF1BxP4

When I was playing in northern Minnesota in the 80s I was teamed up with a fairly ornery old story teller from Colorado (here's to you, Marlin) and he once told me that he believed it was Willie Nelson's mission in life to record every single song that ANYONE had ever recorded. That's probably why Willie is still out there doing it.

Happy birthday, Willie, and thanks for some great tunes!

I had a girlfriend that told me that her mom was a big Willie Nelson fan and she wanted me to learn one of his songs to play for her. I already knew "Blues Eyes Crying in the Rain", but that wasn't good enough for her. She said her mom loved "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground". It took me two weeks to come up with an arrangement I liked. The song modulates and is kind of a pain, anyway I played it for her and she says "That was great who does that song?" I said "Willie Nelson" and she said "Do you know Blues Eyes Crying in the Rain?" :anger:

I have to say he looks pretty good for 78....hmmm......wonder if it has anything to do with his guitar...it looks more like 78 years old. I love Willie just for his attitude, and he's written some great songs some of which always ends up as one of those songs you cant stop singing.

Thanks Marvin, Happy Birthday Willie!
Saw Willie with this band (just said this on another thread recently, deja vu):
