At no time did they ever put the "blues" into categories, and break them down into this style and that style...it was just blues....I don't even think about what style I'm playing nowadays, and probably never will....but count off a 12 bar I/IV/V progression,or 8 bar,or start a swampy progression that needs slide, and I kick into gear.
Why? because I don't have to think about it,I just do what the song needs.
You can put too much thought into this and miss the point...entirely.

Exactly! That's why my answer was "the feel good style". It's as simple as that, if it feels good and it's Blues then I'll play it, I couldn't tell you what style I'm playing... there's no science to playing da blues, you either got it or you don't

You can call it whatever you want, it's still Blues... SRV is known for his "Texas style" but when he's playing some Albert King licks it sure doesn't sound like no Texas to me, but it's still Blues, the feel good kind

saying all blues styles are the same is like saying all the above rock styles are the same.
they dont even sound a like most of them. of course a lot of them are derivatives of mixing a few together, which is whats happened to todays blues music. the early stuff didnt remotely sound the same at all, or maybe my ear is just different and notices the differences in early blues music. outside of all the spin offs, whats your fav style?
you guys that have been playing for 30 or 40 plus yrs have bound to have seen the changes over the yrs. the newer folks i expect to be pretty much clueless having not been around as long to have seen the changes over the yrs.
ok so bring on the bashing, or tell me how wrong i am, i expect it from several.
