This might be a stupid question, but here goes:

I just took delivery of a 1966 vintage case to match a late 60's era J-bass I am assembling. It's in great shape, but could use a bit of a clean up.

What's the best way to do it?

I'm not too worried about the "sacredness" of the vintage vibe, but I don't want to mess it up either. I typically try to keep all my guitars and cases clean - this just happens to be the oldest one I've got now. My other Fender case is the injection molded kind.

ArmorAll on the exterior and vacuum out the woolly boogers inside and you should be good to go, Tom.

And Tom -- we will wanna see pics of that Jazz Bass when you finish it. I'm sure it'll look nicer than the one I built a couple of years ago......

Wow - that is a SWEET collection of Fender products you have there.

That bass is killer. I love the block necks like that. And that blue.

You can bet I'll get some pictures together when I finally get this Franken-Jazz put together.

I am being really fussy about the body. When I bought the vintage neck, I thought "I'll just throw any old body on there and go" But once I got it, I realized I wanted something that "looked" compatible.

It's killing me to have so much potential sound lying dormant (not that I don't have other basses...). It'll come.

So do you play bass through that Showman? Two of the best cabinets I ever had were 2X15"'s like that (not Fender unfortunately).

No the Showman is a guitar rig. If I had a pair of JBL D140F's for it, it would be "simpatico" for bass.

Instead, I reconfigured a '74 Bandmaster cab with a pair of Fender/Eminence bass drivers to give me a rudimentary bass capability. Useful when friends drop by to jam, etc.
