So about 10 years ago I went shopping for a new guitar. Settled on an Ibenez, and decided that my '65 Mustang had to go to make room for it. Sold the Mustang for $500. Wish I had it now...

I wish I had bought as many Strats and Les Pauls as I could have back 40 years ago when the were going for $200/300.

But from what we've seen of your stable, Arjay, you're more a case of coulda, woulda, didda!

Twew dat. But it's only been within the last ten or twelve years that I began to "collect" things. Prior to that I put most of my money into paying off my mortgage. Hell, my piggup truck turned 25 years old in February! I'm frugal when it comes to most endeavors......except for gear of course.

Along about 61-62 I had a kid try and trade me out of an old cushmon moter scooter for an allmost new Blond Melody Maker and a Fender baceman Amp. I turned him down flat. Thaught he was nuts.   Afterall That was my only transportation and I paid $50 for it.

MY gear history is filled with coulda, shoulda, woulda stories that would make even the most hardened criminal break down into an uncontrollable crying streak.

Welcome to the Forum xinbaba! You wrote: "Wish I had it now...". Don't we all?
nostalgia, wiki:
"The term nostalgia describes a yearning for the past, often in idealized form.[1] The word is a learned formation of a Greek compound, consisting of νόστος (nóstos), meaning "returning home", a Homeric word, and ἄλγος (álgos), meaning "pain, ache". It was described as a medical condition, a form of melancholy, in the Early Modern period, and came to be an important topic in Romanticism."

When I was twelve, I worked picking weeds and cleaning up around the property around my uncle's house for the summer. At the end of the summer he offered me the option of cash ($250) or I could pick a guitar out of his 'collection'. At that time I was playing a cheap piece of crap and I was going to use the money for a new guitar anyhow, and...I knew I could get something better if I chose from his guitars. So I had it narrowed down to a mid 80's Fender Performer, or an '87 SquierII Strat H-S-S. I chose the strat because I wasn't real keen to the metallic pink color. The Strat was an awesome guitar and I wish I still had it, but seeing how much those performers sell for now makes me kick myself for not picking the Performer.

don't sweat the regret. There is no yesterday and no tomorrow, there is only now. If you loved the guitar go get it or get one you really drool over now. As posted earlier hindsight is always 20/20.

I agree 100%. Why waste today worrying about yesterday. Move On. 8)
