whats interesting is that soon everybody was complaining about these no truss guitars,
the esquire for example. so fender allowed everybody to send their non truss guitars back to the factory and they either recieved altogether new guitars or, the necks were switched with truss necks and resent back to customers. the non truss necks were disposed of in the back of the shop via distruction.
as a result, there were very few actual 1952 esquires made.
sometimes when they were sent back the bodies got replaced too because the rear
truss adjustment couldnt be accessed w/o the body being chiesled to allow access.
what determined which ones got replaced or cut out and which ones didnt is unknown.
a lot of changes were made in 52 to the esquire that are still in use today.
early on in 52 the flat head screws were replaced with phillips screws. so an esquire with the flat head screws still intact is a very rare find and worth a fortune.
it has been said that these guitars are a 1 trick pony. if that is the case, they do that trick better than any other guitar ever built, and its a damn sweet trick to be sure too.

That guy seems like a cool dude. Reminds me of my local guitar store owner. Anyways.... I am not familiar with that guitar. If anyone has The Blackguard by Nacho Baños please reference it and see if it is indeed in that book.

I wish I had that book.

Interesting.

You might find this site interesting.... http://www.theblackguardbook.com/
