That heading was put up with the deepest of sarcasm. We woke up this morning with 4" of snow covering everything.Imagine that on the 20th of April. That's not surprising though because on June 6th,1991 we had a blizzard and I remember that date quite well as it was the day that I bought my first convertable.
I hope that the snow is all melted by tomorrow as that's the day that we have our beach cleanup just 2 minutes walk from my house. We're cleaning the beach instead of having a giant protest against the proposed subdivision that council is considering letting a developer put on designated parkland.

Hee-hee! If we take the last two posts together we suddenly understand how it was that when the Vikings travelled from Iceland via Greenland a thousand years ago (500 years before Columbus) to arrive at L'Anse Aux Meadows in Newfoundland... they stayed one winter and then went straight home again.

Mind you, L'Anse Aux Meadows is well up on my "to do" list. I'll get there sooner or later. Be most interested to hear if Guitslinger has visited? It looks great in photos.

Eat your heart out, Christopher Columbus!

Cheers - C

PS: it's a very comfortable 26 C / 78.8 F here in sunny London today. 8)

Hi Ceri,I've never been to L'anse Aux Meadows-shame but my cousin has a Bed and Breakfast quite near there in Cape Onion.BTW the Portugese and Basque fishermen and whalers repectively were fishing on our (then) rich fishing grounds long before Colombus"discovered" America.

It was snowing lightly this morning when I got up. Daytime temps are consistently above freezing and the snowpack is shrinking, but there's still a good 3' of snow remaining that is yet to melt away. Forecast for the next 5 days or so leads me to believe that we'll still have about the same amount of snow next week--rain/snow overnight for the next several days. long winter. Jackson area of NW Wyoming

Exactly! Columbus was the latercomer on this stuff. By centuries!

One day I shall come and stay at your cousin's B&B and visit that great looking coast. And eat plenty of Canadian hot-smoked salmon. Yum!

Cheers - C

Can't complain! ;-)

Cheers

P.S.: Guitslinger, perhaps this sort of setup would be cool for summer snow ploughing?
