The nearly six-foot, statuesque female with the rainbow hair, packed neatly into her jeans and leather was in obvious pain despite her admitted history of drug abuse, current methadone maintenance and suspected 'off the wagon' behavior, sloshing her words as she related her history during intake in the emergency unit. Her face was aching, the front of her lower jaw, in particular. The student who initially presented her case to me was not impressed, and rightly so, by anything in the xray image of her lower front teeth, but more so by the fact that her gums were inflamed, and a noticeable amount of calculus (tartar) around the necks of her teeth at that level. So as I came to review his exam, the first thing which struck me was that her lower lip was swollen, more so to the right of the midline and there was a small dark scab just below the borderline of her lip. The area which was more prominent was also hard and tender to the touch and she remarked that the pain was constant, and radiating away from her chin point, posteriorly on either side. The lip, she volunteered, start to become symptomatic not long after she had picked at something there.(Obviously at the site of the scab). My initial impression of a developing cellulitis, likely caused by Staph, and hopefully not MRSA, begged a closer examination of that lip and side facing inward. As I everted her lip to look at the inside surface, there, to my amusement, was tatooed, in the finest Gothic lettering one might imagine, the word
"Slayer".

"Well,my dear" said I. "Now that we've learned the name of your favorite heavy metal band, let's see if we can save the wall you've written it on."

True story...this night.....4/20/11

Well if MRSA is diagnosed and amputation is indicated, you can always transplant the jawbone of an onager -- if she insists on behaving like an asshat, she should have a face to match.

My brother in law who is a retired dentist once had a dental emercency and was asked to go outside to see the patient which ended up being a 180 lb Newfoundland dog with an absessed tooth. My brother in law although not a big animal lover couldn't bear to see another creature suffer, got his assistant to bring out his extraction tools and a large amount of Novocaine. After he had injected the suffering dog with the anesthetic he got the owners to hold the dog's mouth open and extracted the offending tooth.
When they asked how much he waived his fee saying that there were no set fees for dogs so he couldn't charge anyway they had left him with a story that was worth more than any cash.

I have "The Allman Brothers Band" tattooed on the very back of my tongue. What a drunken Saturday night that was!

Hey, that Heineken is looking a bit cloudy. That beer isn't... "pre-owned", is it? :|

Cheers (or not) - C

Cloudy? Oh. that's why it tasted off. Hmm.

Actually, it must be condensation. Straight from the fridge to a sunny beach... hee hee hee... Not my favourite brand, but made a good coolant for my body! 8)

Edit: "Pre-Owned"? You mean like the new Pawn Shop Beer Series?

Thanks for the illustrative material. There's also one involving a bottle similar to this.
