Just to 'stir it up'... How much does the average gig pay your band?

Keep in mind though that if your band is starting out, you may not be able to get people to pay you those amounts until you have proven yourself worthy of those amounts. Playing for free isn't a bad thing when you are getting started, and while the money is nice, its should be about the music first....

Oh, I thought somebody was looking to hire. That's what I get for thinking.

It has been my experience that money is never on your mind when your havin' a blast makin' music. When your packin' up and someone comes over and hands you some cash, well that's just a bonus! :)

I just thought I'd mention that because some kid would see this and then think that his band that can barely play a few songs can demand that type of money....

I definately agree that it should be about the music (I didn't get into guitars thinking "if I made 600 a night...")
I'm just curious how the numbers change where people live.

We Charge $750.00 for four hours up to $1,000.00 if we have to travel or if hall is hard to load and unload equipment. New Years Eve is no less than $2,000.00 and sometimes we will play for fundraisers for $100.00. There are 4 of us in the band so its usually pretty good. Gotta love wedding season.
