There's a not very old saying..."Follow the money."
Obviously someone is going to make money on this, the owner of the land, the developer, the local government with taxes, etc...They all have to be put in the spotlight of the media so everyone knows who is getting what.

The 10 or 12 houses that are being built wouldn't create enough revenue to make it worthwhile but myself and many others think that the council has a hidden agenda and that this is the thin edge of the wedge to get a subdivision to extend a lot farther down the pristine unspoiled coastline. One of the rare flowers affected is the moccasin flower that requires very speciall circumstances to grow.It is a beautiful flower that I believe is part of the orchid family and it does look like a moccasin when in bloom. Some of the birds affected are sandpipers, plovers and many rare species have been sighted in the area.

It's far from being a city....there's only about 1100 people living here.

oh it will be if this goes sour.

Wow that looks soo beautiful, it looks very similar to NZ in many ways. But why in this day of age would anyone want to tear that piece of land up for mansions? thats just ridiculous. People that buy large mansions are suckers anyway. Mansions or the like, lifestyle properties are not the most smart investment in the property market. Not here anyways.

If the council had their way here, there would be absolutly no woodland left. Everything would become housing developments....which in my opinion, looks like crap!

And up to a quarter of the city of Detroit is being torn down because it's deserted, to make parks and small farms.

To quote those great mid 20th century philosophers, Sonny and Cher, "...and the beat goes on."

I've contacted The David Suzuki Foundation,The Canadian Wildlife Federation and The Canadian Parks And Wildlife Services (CPAWS) to garner support for our cause. We have to pull out all the stops for this, already after only a couple of days we have over 500 members lending their support. Please go to the FB Site Help Us Save Ragged Beach,Witless Bay to lend your support as input from international sources may make the council sit up and take note if environmentally interested parties gave their opinions. This is an absolutely pristine and delicate coastal area.

Have you called the Canadian Broadcast Corporation to get some National spotlight?
