Dec. 25, 1964. I reckon I was one of a few hundred thousand getting one of these sets that Christmas.
The Tremolux is a much later addition.

Two of my bandmates owned those convertibles, acquired the first year they were released. There was another model, same body with a solid top, in a natural finish, with two pickups, that another one of my mates played. I'm looking at a picture of him with it as I write. Regret that I can't scan that over.

My daughter's first guitar though she keeps it as an ornament instead of a guitar. Is a candy apple red Kramer Ultra and a vintage crate amp. The one's that look like actuall crates made from wood. Pretty decent set up but she doesnt care to learn. Lucky for my children if they want to play an intrument all I ask is 1 year on a beginner, show some improvement and gurhter desire, I would mind spending a decent amount of cash on a decent guitar and amp. I know that perfect practice makes perfect and the better gear(not nessesarily expensive) make practice perfect.
Im just saying I remember my first elecric guitar would go out of tune while I was playing songs. You know how frustrating that is? Starting out great and ending up sloppy becuase your guitar start to sound like crap.

1980 G&L F100 (with series II neck profile). Mahogany body, coil- and phase-tapped humbuckers, hardtail bridge, rosewood fretboard. Great guitar, I still have it and love it.

I actually started messing around and learning on my Dad's silvertone. The 1st guitar that actually belonged to me was a Gibson Les Paul Jr. double cut out (SG style) with a single P-90 pickup.

I had a Black Encore Strat Copy from the Argos Catalogue. 1991. Came with one humbucker, one volume, a lead and a little headphone preamp thing.

I gave it to a beginner when I bought myself a Sunn Mustang (Strat copy 1994). Black with a Maple Neck and fitted a tort scratch guard. (Roadhouse style)

The good old days!! :D

My parents got me a used Stratocaster in 1968 from Bill's Music House.

For real, a student sized (1/2 sized I think) Global from Sears.

Not for real, A Red '64 Stratocaster salvaged from security pit at a Who concert in 1968. After 4 years of repair and restoration it was placed in my crib, plugged into a Fender Twin (which the crib was built atop), and the rest is History.

I'm not going to Lie my first guitar was some crappy classical guitar my parents got me on a trip to Mexico. ROFLMAO I took it out one humid day in texas and got caught out in the rain and by the time it dried it didnt even resemble a guitar anymore.
My first electric was a "Series 10" I dont even know if that company is still in business. Or who they were? but it took a nose dive when I was 13 and the headstock cracked in half. Ah the memories.

morbe, I hope that you were one of the lucky ones.

"Lets take a trip down memory lane and embarass our selves a bit."
Plan to be embarrassed doesn't seem like a desirable plan.

I'm glad that you have chosen to not Lie even though your story was disheartening you seem to have well...lets go on.

Another guitar horror story but you seem to have taken things in stride, the note of mild sarcasm regarding "memories" was humorous. 8)

First guitar was a Silvertone acoustic given to me when I was 5 years old by my parents. I no longer have that guitar and haven't been able to find a pic but I'm sure that there are some other Forum members who either had one or have played one in the past. :D
