That is very true, very true. But Madonna started it all before all the PC BS went main stream. That just goes to show how judgemental Americans have become since Political Correctness came into play.
Back to The Oconnor thing. I just think she went to far ripping a religious picture.
I thought that guy in Florida was a complete Duche for saying he was going to publicly burn the Quran.
Yes, Yes, Love of Money, is the root to many evils. But there are some extremist religious fanatics in every strain of belief that poison their followers in thinking war and destruction of another Race, Country, or religious sect in order to secure that money.

I was in the military and got out at soon as my enlsistment time was up. But I loved the Military I enjoyed it. I served during "Peace time" though I was invoulved in operations that took place during the break up of the former Yugoslavia. I saw how political correctness was beginning to destroy our Military.

Be careful, now--don't be plagiarizing Sinead O'Connor! The 1990 song "The Emperor's New Clothes" ends with the lines, "through their own words / they will be exposed / they've got a severe case of / the emperor's new clothes."

She might sue you, and a lawyer might look through all your poetry to find further incidences...

Great minds think alike. I wish, right? I hadn't heard or seen Sineads song lyric before, but it's close (a little wordy for me). Thanks for thinking of me SA flattery will get you everywhere!

+1
I won't defend Sinead for her actions, and Pastor Terry is nothing more than a media $@!&# (he didn't even have the courage--or stupidity--to go through with his actions).

There's one translation of 1 Timothy 6:10 says, "For the love of money is the root of all sorts of injurious things..." as opposed to saying "all evil..."
Religious fanaticism in and of itself is just as damaging, and is a root of "injurious things" as well. I like what Harper Lee wrote in "To Kill A Mockingbird" (and I'm paraphrasing here):

The Bible in the hand of some men is worse than than a whiskey bottle in the hand of another man.

Therefore, I don't reject God or the Bible, I just reject any who use it as a weapon or excuse for bad behavior.

There's no justification for causing any kind of harm within Christianity. The idea is to mirror the ultimate pacifist, Christ. In effect you even forsake the right to defend yourself. As Christ did at his trial.

I see no old testament prophecy claiming the messiah would defend himself either physically or verbally. People who claim to be Christians ought consider the meaning of the title. The first century church never called themselves anything. The title Christian was partly a mockery partly a description. The original meaning of the title is Christ like person.
You have to ask yourself would Christ advocate your actions on a daily basis. Never mind Him use anyone as a tool of divine judgment or retribution in a era of forgivness.
That whole claim of killing in the name of God is nothing but a lie from the pit as far as I'm concerned.

my guess is it's about political correctness, so I try'd to refer to the decline of honesty and truth in this newest version of society to be looked upon as undesirable behaviors to be replaced by lying and deceit as the new normal behaviors because population control is easier when the population is deprived of truth and honesty. I hope that made sense.

I think it was another "wise" man who said, and I am paraphrasing aswell:

I would rather face a mob of satanist rather than one religous person with a bible and a gun.

That "wise" man is Gene Simmons

I think a man with a bible in hand isnt really a bad thing. Its the combination of whats in his heart and his ability to pursuade a weak mind that makes it deadly.
Jesus never tried to brainwashed or pursuaded people to follow him. He simply told his followers.
"And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet."
Jesus was a peacefull pacifist. I hate when fanatics are overly agressive and forcefull in the name of Jesus.
