Part 1, did Fender ever release and produce a production-quantity double neck guitar, and if so what and when?

Part 2, 'bought new way back when for cheap an Ibanez lawsuit era copy of a Gibson EDS-1275 6-12 and still have and still enjoy on occasion. The VG Strat and Variax can both do 6-12, but man, to quote the oulde lyric, "...ain't nothing like the real thing, Baby."

Just had it off the wall and was doing some melodic Patsy Cline on both necks and 'twas tres beaucoup grande fun.

Thoughts or opinions on doubles, anyone?

I never really wanted a double neck of any sort until I saw Gordie Johnson of Grady playing slide on a 6/12 Gibson...and he was playing slide on the 12-string! It was like Robert Johnson on acid and meth at the same time..."tone of the murderer" indeed!

After that show, I went to Guitar Center and re-tuned a 6/12 to open G, and let fly...it took a tiny bit of adjustment on my picking hand on the 12-string (I don't use a pick, just flesh and fingernails), but it sounded really cool. 8) Several people listened and commented that they didn't think that would work (just as I had thought previously as well), but they said it sounded good, too. Kinda "electric sitar meets South Side Chicago blues, with a dash of slowed-down Johnny Winter for good measure."

Now, a 6/12 doubleneck of some sort is on my "One Of These Days" list.

I don't think there's ever been a production model doubleneck by Fender.

The Custom Shop makes some ... check out this thread
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=54265
for some recent pictures of a couple Custom Shop doublenecks.

I also owned an Ibanez doubleneck for a short time in the late '70s.
