oh the psychology of tats, I like that phrase!! I admit, im an ink addict!! All of mine have a great deal of meaning to me as well - I waited until I was older to get any tats though, because I never knew exactaly what I wanted until my son was born - WHen I was 21, METALLICA across my forearm may have been cool as hell, not so cool at 36!! lol - My very first tat, I was in the chair for 7 hours!! lol - baptism by fire baby!! Skin just got to the point of not taking any more ink - went back a few weeks later for the finish, 2 more hours - after that, its been an addiction - one arm is fully sleeved and working on the other!

Nice Ink there papa....I was put off getting any body art when I got busted for posession of pot the first time at 15. One of the first boxes on the arrest sheet was "Distinguishing scars or indentifiable marks or tatoos" And as I had just started my "record-ding" career I thought better of it ....that said I really do appreciate good ink. Now I'm just to old and skinny to even think about it

I have no ink and I am not disposed to getting any.

However, the Armadillo Child's Kindergarten teacher had several. She got her hair cut short in the back, which revealed a Chinese symbol on the back of her neck.

I went up to her with an extremely concerned look on my face and asked if she was friends with her tattoo artist, and if she trusted him. She asked, "Why?"

I asked her what he said the symbol meant...she said, "Teacher, instructor, guide."
I told her that I had been a missionary in China in my 20s (I had not) and had learned some Chinese symbols. I told her, "I'm sorry, but that tattoo says, 'I am a prostitute...'"

She almost died, saying, "Oh, please no...that can't be true!!"
I finally couldn't keep from laughing and let her off the hook...but she was very worried for a few moments.
