Riley...I really think what happened here is that many of us who have lived through several "lifetimes" in this world and cleaned up our acts to live and tell about it,hate to see anyone get tangled up in a world of cow pies with 'shrooms that stain blue....we were all young and invincable at one time and sneered at our elders at their ignorance of drugs.
Believe me when I say this, but in the late '60s when the real psychedelic explosion took the world by storm, our old man and his buddies wouldn't have known pot or heroin if it they were stuck where the sun don't shine...we learned it the hard way...but no one ever listens and they know it all... :(
So if some people got all preachy and crap,it was really trying to help people...I will listen to someone who has done it rather than in my day,"just because I told you not to."
We did it.

i'm well aware of that, but alot of the dudes came off sounding a lil' edgy. as we have a good education on what drugs can do to you at my school, i never ever am touching illegal drugs. its to much of a risk for me as my healths already very bad (which yes with the help of dr's i'm tryin' to fix)
and i'm sure in alot of schools now they are showing just what can happen if you intake drugs, just cause he talked about it doesn't mean he's going to do it

Experience is the hardest teacher, but it also obligates you to warn others--if you make it through alive. I used to drink, but I quit because I saw where it was becoming a problem. The Miller Brewing Company almost collapsed (financially) when I quit. But I don't miss it...and my playing, songwriting and disposition all improved greatly

I never said, "Smoke a joint and you'll die." I just pointed out that it's not a good place to go--physically, mentally or emotionally...and some people don't realize that many/most drugs can kill you spiritually as well.

...and if you read Creep's original post, he was the one empahsizing that many new bands were writing and singing about drugs, as well as commenting on the increased use of psychedelic drugs in his age group. It was his flippant attitude (and ignorance of what was actually going on in the 60s, 70s, etc.) that brought the hailstorm on his butt, not the mere mention of drugs.

...and good for you, Riley, for making that choice now. Stick to it, and you'll never regret it.

On another little side note, beware of making distinctions between Legal and Illegal, you may not get addicted to Heroine, but you can go head and give yourself Alcohol Induced hepatitis.

Let's not soften Alcohol, here. I know more dead people from Alcohol that all the illegal drugs put together, simply because its legal, not because it's worse (or better).

That's the point I was trying to make as well. Alcohol is far worse in what it does because it's so easy to get and much cheaper than most drugs and it's legal.

Living within 1 mile of the regional High School and on a back road that reaches the High School, Saturday and Sunday mornings are spent picking up "empties" that are strewn on our road. Not just by me but neighbors as well. We have car accidents regularly and 8 out of 10 drivers are drunk. Driving too fast on a dark windy road trying to impress buddies!

but I am and I do do it, its all about personal choice, i go through alot of crap, i know my life could be a $@!& load worse, but i still go through it and i just want to get away from everything sometimes, and i do

seriously man, wrong choice. i'm sure you haven't heard my storys of severe health issues (which can be result from doing drugs i guess, but thats not why i had it), which i nearly died from. an i'll admit the side effects its left me with today, i used to sometimes really wanna die. barely ever now though. do you know why? cause i found a outlet other than drugs. i spend hours in my room just writting poems and (if my hands up for it) playing guitar. yeah sometimes i do get pretty pissed off with myself, but not as much as i used to.

you hear what i'm sayin? quite the drugs and find yourself a better outlet than drugs. if guitar dont work for you, draw, write, whatever it takes to get caught up in the moment y'know? you may use drugs as a recreational type thing but in a month it'll become an addiction. drugs ruin peoples lifes
