You betcha, Rollie. Classic song classic album. One of my faves. Thanks, for adding to the thread.

I was not a Beatles fan at the start. ‘She Loves You’ ya ya ya steered me away in the beginning while living in a Canadian town of double deck buses which drove past tea and crumpets everywhere. Royalty often visited the inner harbour with the Royal yacht Britannia in a city named after a Queen. Predominantly English, Irish, and Scottish local kids returning from British Isles’ vacation spread the Mop Top fever before the fad became universal.

I was in awe to be sure of the commotion; but, while I embraced British blues bands, and the odd English Pop/Rock artist, it wasn’t until the Beatles hit the psychedelic stage that I embraced John, Paul, George, and Ringo (not so much). The west coast had plenty of other musical goodies to choose from. It didn’t matter to the kids I went to school with though. The Beatles and my classmates hit Vancouver like a bomb. After that, if you weren’t a Beatles fan, forget about getting a date. If that wasn’t bad enough, you had to pick one of the band members as a favourite - unless you were a Stones fan. :P
However, when the Fab Four expanded their music world and ours, I got that wow! feeling, gradient coloured Rodenstock shades, a camel hair Nehru jacket, and discovered their writing and production talent aside from the commercialism and marketing. I now look at the Beatles as a whole . . . even appreciating some of the early stuff, but I still hate ‘She Loves You’ ya ya ya. It’s right next to my bubblegum pop copy (check the clothes, hair, and the vibe) of:

Still, Ohio Express hit number 1 on the charts with that song on this side of the border (number 4 in the U.S.).

Paul explains best what I and Brian Wilson (a genius in my mind) heard and still do :

“Who Loves Ya Baby?”

Beautiful album Ralph. Thank you for posting.

Gary, it took a while, I grew to like them (the Beatles) as well.

Phew! Thanks, Rollie. All this time I thought I was the only one.

Thanks, for the post, spacewolf. Ouroboros sounded like a jam with Hendrix, Vangelis, and an electrified Ravi without tablas. Nice.

Glad you liked it, guys.

I always respected the Beatles for what they did for rock music, but I couldn't stand them because they were so overplayed on the radio. It took me a long time to come to discover that they did have a few good song, like Tomorrow Never Knows, which was never played on the radio.

Anyway, you all might like the this too.

Heya, SBLS. Thanks, for that post with Mitch. One dynamite drummer. I read the comments attached to the video. Some pretty dumb a** statements. If one wants perfect, they can leave a lot of greats off their list. I thought Mitch’s drum solo was innovative and, yeah, he wasn’t on top of it, but like Moon who could be all over the map, Mitch rocked it and could out drum many of his critics and then some. If you want perfection, listen to Rich, Tito, Peart, studio drummers, edited samples, or a simple drum machine. Others may apply, of course.

The only time I ever heard Buddy or some of his like off their game was when something broke.

Besides, some appreciated drummers on the pedestal got famous from one or two hits (pun intended), supported by other band members, and their drum solos, although maybe precise, suck to a percussionist IMHO. Speed is like shredding. A technique more often than a style. You can teach technique but style is the bomb. Combined it can be very good or very bad. Many times, these so called greats bore me to death. How many Surf drummers can one name? Didn’t think so. Oh. right . . . Jimmy Page didn’t play Surf. There are times I’d rather go hear the drummers at a pow wow. They’ve got style.
Mitch, did a fine job, kudos to Jimi for allowing him to shine, and thanks for putting him back on the stage, SBLS.

Rawk on!

That was one fine burst of exposition on drumming style vs. technical talent, FSB. I really enjoyed reading that.

In fact, I enjoyed reading it so much I decided to post some Electric Moon.

Enjoy!

Classic. 8) I'll never think of Suzie Q again without thinking of that surreal scene in Apocalypse Now (which was surreal throughout) with the USO dancers at the base out in the middle of nowhere.

In a more modern vein, this is pretty trippy.

This one is more on the dreamy, laid back side of the psychedelic soundscape.

Thanks, spacewolf. Glad you enjoyed the read. I respect any musician that makes an attempt good or bad. Hey! If you can round up an audience - that's good. If you can't - that's bad. Me? I bribe them with suckies and munchies, and then I hold them hostage by making them feel bad if they abandon me.
Enjoying the posts here. Sorry, I have nothing new to offer at the moment, but I'm tied up (my last audience did it) and I'm a little spaced out with work at the moment when I should be practicing for my next stellar performance. KaChing!

FSB

Enjoy!

Electric Moon definitely took a while to grow on me. This isn't exactly my type of music, but after I gave it a chance and actually started listening to it, I started getting into it. It's definitely heavy. Makes me want to get a few more pedals and start recording. :)

Glad you like them, Rollie.

This is great too. I'm not sure what they're putting in the dihydrogen monoxide out in San Diego these days, but it must be some groovy stuff.
