Jeff, there but for the grace of God go all of us. Some pass far too near for comfort.

Whoever claimed that any form of substance abuse doesn't lead to harder substance chasing is a downright liar and a outright enemy of your life force. Just drop into any AA meeting and see what them people will use to get off.

What this kid can't grasp is that some of us lived through the sixties, did all the crap. Woke up and decided it aint all that. Personally it was the eighties with me. I went to probably the first acid house party in the UK. I used to go out on Wednesday and not come home till Monday. I can tell you all, it started at a Roy Harper gig when I was thirteen.
Now a lot of my peers were there too. They all had greater self control and presence of mind than I.
You can do that stuff, but you gotta be in control of yourself and not seeking where you belong, like this kid is doing. Cos what you put yourself to belonging will own you. Whether it be music, money, sex or drugs. Some are more insidious than others, all have their tentacles that grasp relentlessly

No he probably hasn't, and quite frankly, with each of his posts he's seeming more and more like the poser "punks" that consider anyone disagreeing with them a "sellout" and feel like everyone gives a damn about their musical taste and whether or not they do any drugs. I'll also bet good money he considers most people inferior to him based on their musical tastes (liking to many or any "mainstream" acts). "TEH PUNX" like that annoy me. Greatly.

And +1 on the self control. Like I said I've smoked before, but I have control over it and don't make a habit of it. Haven't even touched the stuff for a little over 2 months.
LOLOLOLOL A 14 YR OLD HAVING TO CONTROL HIS MARIJUANA USAGE LOLOLOL, No i respect all musical tastes, so you can hand over that good money. All punks are posers by their own definition, but thats a whole other topic. All called him a sellout as a joke, apparently no one gets the reference to SLC Punk!

Well, evidently I have far more control over it than you do or ever will. And again, I'm almost certain I've seen you state that you're 13-14. But I don't suppose you'll be addressing that, as it would prevent you from going into MAXIMUM OVER-TROOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL.

Missed the part where I said anything "internet toughguy"-ish. Actually, you seem to be more a culprit of that here.

I have steered clear of this in recent days but reading the latest drivel you have written I have to point something out.......

I see exactly where you get your 'proof of evidence' but read the disclaimers on the various pages of this web-site, especially the one on marijuana deaths............it says, and I quote, 'The information contained in the reports has not been scientifically or otherwise verified'...........................same old sh&t you have accused us 'old sellouts' of giving.

Doesn't matter how much you wail, moan, complain or spout forth dubious, vitriolic and nonsensical crap your claims of 'proof' to legitimise and excuse your obvious personal insecurities are not impressing anyone or changing any minds. I said it before and I will say it again...

Just frigging grow up!!

Then please, oh god of comedy, explain what the joke was? You were saying I was an "internet toughguy", which would imply that I claimed to be/have done something I am/have not. I read it, and that's all I've been able to take from it. So please, enlighten me Captain Chuckles.

No

Well, that's good news. As the Bros have been explaining and I agree, for your consideration, self-medication can be very dangerous and is a common thread from alcohol and cigarettes to blunts and bumps, as popular and widespread as it's ever been, but, I would ask your Doc's advise, about when you get those, " i go through alot of crap, i know my life could be a $@!& load worse, but i still go through it and i just want to get away from everything sometimes, and i do", types of feelings. You never know, he or she may recommend a treatment regimen that includes marijuana. My Doc has always been honest with me and very helpful and I don't think that I've been an ideal patient

Once again, check your resources.........

THat site has a link at the bottom for a 2004 media review yet it was last updated in 2002........... :?: :!:  :?

LIsten, you and I are never going to agree and you can throw all the proof you like at me and the rest of the folks in this forum, but if you are going to post links to sites then make sure thay are legitimate sources of proof. Not people who are trying to justify contentious issues by just merely highlighting their contentiousness.........

Oh and btw, we all have personal insecurity issues, it is just that when you grow up and live a bit of life you realise that these issues are part of who you are and not an excuse to hide behind substance abuse whether it be smoking, drinking or drugs.

My point is, Negative, if you want to do it do it. My issue is the fact that you are so hostile to anyone with a different opinion and that is what winds people up. OUr first exchange at the start of this thread was probably my fault, like I said I work with people who have had their lives turned upside down by substance abuse and I am passionate about it, but there are people on here who have not judged you but offered sensible, compassionate thoughts on a subject that they have some experience of yet you still spit venom at them. Hence the angry comments fired back to you.

Your links are spurious, you need to learn how to determine origins and agendas of websites like these.......hey I know the ones that offer the arguments you are looking for and am regularly in touch with the organisations with the 'proof' that you seek to justify it.........just chill out. I think every one on here has given you initial benefit of the doubt but you are responding in such a way that it comes across like you now just want to argue for the sake of arguing and are coming across as someone desperate to be accepted by being 'controversial' but as you have seen by the responses, many of us have been there and controversial for a teen is now seen as 'boring' by the older generations because we did the controversy in our teens and, generally, learned it wasn't the escape/release/lifestyle that remained appealing once we were out of our teens and into the 'big wide world'(no patronising meant there) where being confrontational to make yourself different doesn't work.

JUst don't do it if it is to provoke.....that is lame. Be who you are because that IS who you are not because you are being told by others how to be. My school reports always read 'easily distracted' - I was so desperate to fit in I would pick up on the people I admired and take it to the next level and when I got to my early 20s I had no idea who I was anymore and had little or no ability to formulate my own opinions because I would not take on board the opinions of people that disagreed.

If you don't listen to ALL the arguments and opinions you CAN'T make a valid and learned opinion. MOst websites addressing the issues on drugs have agendas and are biased on BOTH sides of the fence. You just have to learn to 'weed out' the good from the bad.

In truth, when you really look at it. Asking for permission to embrace substance abuse on the Fender forums is wrong on so many levels.

Do what you like, I did. Just don't seek justification for your actions from anyone else. If you can't thoroughly justify doing something. To the point that you will be able to look yourself in the mirror, head held high. Every morning for the rest of your life. Then don't do it.
We've all made mistakes, every one of us. Most of us however didn't seek the OK to go ahead and do it from someone else.
Make your own choices, your own mistakes, and take the blame/rewards for such things squarely upon your shoulders.

The claim of medical usage is very different to what is being proposed by the OP. There is of course valid medical application. Something that is quite different to sparking one up in the garage and getting wrecked. Exactly the same way that pain relief via morphine for a terminal patient is different to whacking up smack. LSD is still used as a treatment for the mentaly ill in some parts of the world and only ended in the UK in the early seventies. A completely different scenario to going trippin and putting yourself in one of those places where you'll be administered the drug that put you there.
There is a world of difference between use and abuse.

Very good posts papa and Nick...but I'm afraid logic and rationality is lost on "negative creep",who is trying very hard to live up to his screen name.

In lieue of following this thread, with some disturbing responses, Since the joke was missed on the download link reference to 0 mortality from Cannabis ( obviously in 02, vehicular fatalities resulting from substance intake were not part of the equation.. :?: )
I would like to understand where the joke lies.... :?: :?:

If Humour is lost on the intended audience, then the joke failed and it wasn't a joke at all... :!:
